So do you catered to a specific group of people? Or is your comic aimed to pleased everyone?

Yes, it's impossible to appeal to everyone because many folks have incompatible tastes......which audiences i aim for depends a lot of the comic:

1-Rocky the Rock is a shonen parody about an inanimate rock being an overpowered shonen protagonist.

It appeals to people who love anime and people who love absurd humor, the demographic on this one is peripheric, because it is enjoyed by people around 13-40 years old, as long as they share these interests.

2-Superduperdoopyclub is a lighthearted surreal comedic slice of life about a weird club that may or may not be a cult.

The simplistic art style and surreal lighthearted tone appeals to kids, but also to some adults.

3-Legends of Camelot: is a subversive retelling of King Arthur's story with a more detailed art style. (had to hire an artist and a colorist for this one).

It appeals to people who love medieval fantasy stories or games, and people who prefer a more occidental art style.

4-The princess villainess stares at a blank wall and does absolutely started as an inner joke about the latest Tapas trend
of overly descriptive names involving royalty and villainesses.

It appeals to people who love absurd humor and people who are part of this inner joke in Tapas.

Unfortunatelly I think my work is for a specific group, even though I wish It wasn't. I talk about mature content and use mature language a lot, so there's a lot of chapters that are a heavy reading and many people drop out because of that eheheh. So my work is already 17+ by default, and then there's the niche of people who enjoys angst and heavy psicological themes... they're the people who stay xD I wish my comic was a lightharted BL so I could cater to more people, buuuuut yeah, not this time I feel... maybe next time

Oh, my comic is totally niche. It's for people who like slowburn hurt/comfort stuff, as well as folks who find catharsis in consuming darker stories, or those who just like to see character suffrage. I've also gotten some character study types who like psychoanalyzing characters, and it's for a 17+ audience which limits my reader base as well.

I can also go on to talk about the niche of people who are fine with the aesthetic of a traditional medium (Apparently there are people who will avoid comics that don't have the polish of digital art.), and people who aren't bothered by excessive profanity, aromantic queer stuff, unlikeable or unrelatable protags, the list can go on.

Well, it is for a specific "group" since I use many dark themes involving children. Since I explore the effects situations have on a person from childhood and as they grow, how it evolves. It has lots of psychological themes and lots of despairing situations, though I make sure it has light hearted moments, casual moments, angsty ones, hurt/comfort .

People that enjoy seeing how characters are thrown into an abyss of emotional turmoil to then pull through in their own ways. Though, since people are more sensitive because of children, not everyone has the heart to read that.

I'm a psychologist and I believe talking about a sensitive subject like children's trauma is a way to address it so people are more conscious about it. You see, people tend to think children's problems are insignificant or that they don't think too much but... anything can affect them in a negative way, even comments you think are inoffensive can provoke something in them.

Also, I like pointing out how they are innocent and how they see things differently. Like, how an adult can know something is suspicious and dangerous whereas a child will not see the malice because of that same "innocence".

There's lots of cases in which people trust their kids won't go with strangers for example, but there's been experiments of showing their parents how they can be lured with candy for example. So like... I like raising awareness for them.

It's odd when you find a story focused on a child's perspective and the child not growing up in like 1 or 2 chapters, so, my story is certainly not for everyone, since people tend to see malice in people using child characters

But you see, readers tend to have more empathy towards adult characters when they know their childhood circumstances, their suffering or traumas, thus I believe it's important to show that perspective not often explored.

I like exploring dark subjects and making people uncomfortable in certain situations because... people are supposed to feel concerned, disturbed or uncomfortable (in those specific situations), but yes... Not everyone has the heart to read through.

There's even scenes that could be seen as 'gratuitous' by others but are actually used to show the child's perspective in that they don't see the malice. It's incredibly serious but something real that children will often not see the danger because they are children. (I say gratuitous cause someone could see a scene out of context and think I'm making light of the situation when no, it's just that the reader is supposed to get the meaning behind everything while the children characters are supposed to be children and not see the malice)

So... Yeah, I basically deal with people either reading the context and getting what I'm trying to do and people that stop reading cause they can't handle it and it's valid.

Thus, I believe it is for a specific group of people (besides the fact of it being a fancomic so, it can put off people that don't feel interested about it haha)

I like seeing my story as an original story with borrowed characters (though I do try to keep them in character) XD

Also, I was motivated to do the story cause I wanted to explore their personalities and also because the fandom hate the children and I've always been put off about literal adults hating 5 year olds and treating them as if they were adults >_> When they call a 5 year old stupid( instead of getting they are innocent and don't know many things,) they really get on my nerves.

I really just wanted to humanize them and focus on the fact they're not evil, they're just kids with no parents and thus no appropriate guidance. To give the subject the attention it deserves and show how neglected children can turn out.

Sorry for the wall of text haha but yeah, my story is indeed not for everyone but I do appreciate those willing to give it a chance ^^ So I'm fine with people that can't handle it leave and just having those who do, stay!

I'm not sure how niche my main comic is. Coming-of-age stories aren't exactly uncommon...which was part of the reason I started it in the first place.

My comic is not for specific people. I make the comic for my own goal, the story I want to make and want everyone to view, read, read their comments, and reviews about it.

It felt great when the comic I always want to make is viewed by many individuals and would like to hear their thoughts about it.

I'd say my comic is niche, but not too niche. It's not for everyone but I feel like it's not super hard to get into (maybe I'm just saying that cos I wrote it )

It's mainly for people who are mainly into psychological horror- there's no jumpscares and no "serial killer with knife chasing you 24/7," but mainly a whole lot of mixed feelings on characters and events in the story. It's a lot to do with family relationship dynamics and issues, and asking the question "why stay in what seems to be a clearly abusive relationship to everyone else?"

I also enjoy that my villain is not this grotesque, creepy monster but a character the audience will get to know very well. He's definitely the most interesting character there, which is definitely something I market to potential readers.

So I feel it hard to say what audience it would be aimed for other than myself, I guess its pretty open as its no explicit gore or violence, just wanted to make my own little fantasy adventure with a little bit of slowburn romance somewhere a long the way

Honestly, my niche for my webnovel is very dark romance. Which is a niche genre in itself but more to scratch that personal itch I rarely see. Having a messed up, aggressive, out right dangerous monster who is at the same time just a sad, timid out right socially stunted person. Plus having a chance to really get into thier head and see why they do or did what they did.

Alot of traits I give my characters from intrusive thoughts to severe anxiety are things I deal with. I guess the story has a more personal place in that aspect.

I also knows I tend to deal with very dark subject matter which I know can be turn off for people looking for a cute fluffy romance. Especially when the relationship as fluffy as it seemed to start off as, does not really brush off or downplay some very unsavory traits of my characted. The whole point is monster falling in love with a broken person and said broken person as conflicted as they are return those feelings.

Finally the spicy scenes later contain ... things I know will be niche, from mild blood """admiration""" to romantic canablism to just straight up inhuman anatomy

So a slow burn hurt comfort fic but the comfort becomes intentionally messed up the more you actually thing about it

I largely think of Errant as sharing a niche with other action-adventure series with a focus on female LGBTQ+ characters. On Tapas, examples include: Hard Lacquer, Pandora's Devils, Alien Heart and The Flying Ship.

Errant is a little more "boyish" in identity with a bit more of a shounen manga aesthetic and focus on the action side and politics to go alongside the emotional stuff, and so even though I suspect most readers overall are female and nonbinary, a lot of the most dedicated readers who leave the most comments are male, which is a fun surprise! So I think it also hits that sort of audience who like things like Madoka with some feminine aesthetics and lightly queer themes but also a meaty plot and world-building going on underneath it. I'd love for it to be like Fullmetal Alchemist; a shounen manga created by a woman that has really broad appeal; that's kind of my dream.

Well, "vampire space opera" sounds kind of like a niche, I guess, but at least it doesn't have a lot of competition in it.
I'm honestly not sure. There's not much explicit stuff, like gore, violence or nudity, but it does have vampires, so it will have blood, it is about a military, so it will have violence, and it does have people, so someone is bound to be at least partially naked at some point.
I do sometimes fear that, at present, there's not enough action for people who like action, not enough drama for people who like drama, not enough exciting sci-fi concepts for people who like sci-fi, and not enough vampire stuff for people who specifically like vampires, therefore our comic fails to hit any audience. Time will tell.

I think there is. With my main comic, The Black Belt Society, it was one I made with myself in mind. It's the kind of action-adventure story I watched as kid and love for it's charm and simplicity.

I don't know how niche more kid friendly, "boy-oriented", action stories are that focus more on a friend group rather than romantic relationships. I tried to make it with broad appeal, but realistically, I guess only a certain type of person would feel nostalgic for they type of story BBS is.

I honestly don't really think about my target audience, which might play a part in difficulty on gaining an audience. It's too niche to be mainstream but too mainstream to be niche.

I have a planned comic that might be an alternate retelling of a folk tale with the main character being the folk tale protagonist's sister. But I want to kind of make it for international audience, and hopefully just for them to know a bit about folktales other than overused, disney-fied, ones

I think it's about...60-70% niche? There are lots of action and mystery bits, but it's leaning more towards solarpunk and biopunk in terms of themes and aesthetics. So a little Frankenstein-y there too.

I work on my comic to de-stress, so it's already a joy just working on it by itself. But it does make me even happier when someone (especially my Tapastic friends/community) enjoys it.

I aim to please everyone. I be a people pleaser. What I love with That Stick Figure Isekai is that everyone can relate with a stick figure; however, I know that there's people with specific tastes and the isekai genre allows me insert characters from different genres to get their attention.

One of the themes in the comic is about communication and getting to know one another. There's sort of a meta aspect that encourages readers with different tastes to get to know one another.

WHICH IS CUTE because my most relatable characters are just the regular stick figures so that gives me hope that yeah... my fans are more into stick figure shenanigans.

In a way this is a good thing since I play around with the whole kenosis concept and how the isekaiers are basically gods. It's a little difficult to be attached to them since if you remove everything that made them special and leave them with their core personality, most of them will act like complete aliens.

Also DUE to the fact that everything's comprised of stick figures, it makes advertisement easy. So that's a plus :v

I will say, I do try to shoot for the male demographic. Really curious if there's more boys or more girls reading ma' comic.

I'd like my comic to appeal to the age group of 10 to 15, or people are fans of Shonen and action. I have a feeling that a lot of furries may find my series appeal cause of the animal characters (not that there's anything wrong with that), but I don't want it to be something that appeals to only furries.

Though I think my more light-hearted comics will appeal to a wider (and maybe younger) audience than my darker-themed ones.
