Isekai tropes/stereotypes you hate the most?

Harry Potter and Percy Jackson are low fantasy.

Low fantasy just means that the story has some tie to our world. High fantasy has no tie to our world.

All isekai are low fantasy, but not all low fantasy are isekai.

Not really. If I recall correctly (and it's been a hot minute since I've read harry potter), magic could still be used in our world. They just weren't allowed to use it.

Isekai Yakkyoku, has some bothersome tropes but is an interesting read. The Isekai that I like the most tend to be the ones were combat is either secondary or almost non-existant

Excessive fanservice, mostly. Like it's completely overwhelmed the genre when the isekaied protag is male. There's only a handful of stories I can name that don't have it. Like, I can handle an OP protag so long as it's done well (re: that one time i got reincarnated as slime). I can even handle a little fanservice. But when the entire plot is just "man died and now he gets laid constantly, and there's a little plot in the background", it's just beyond annoying. And there's always a whole harem. It's completely saturated to the point where it's required. It's especially annoying when the plot isn't even good enough to overlook it. I'm tired. There's so much potential for in depth stories about what it means to be separated from your home to save other people in another unfamiliar world where you have to search for the things that stay constant, but instead it's all just... lacking, I guess. Instead it just turns into "who will the male protag conquer next?" I don't think I'd mind it if there were other options to read, but there aren't, really. You have to hunt for the unpopular ones.

In the more modern sense, yes. but traditionally it's also included just places that are foreign

I dunno, most of my problems with the isekai genre are just problems I have with action comics in general. The reliance on fight scenes or fight mechanics that I don't care as much about as I do their character development. It can be done right, and I've enjoyed a bunch of isekai out there. The ones I don't like are just...fight heavy. All the lore goes back to fighting and it's like...y'all do anything else here? No? Got it.

I actually looked through this list a long time ago and was inspired to attempt to create an isekai webcomic that people like the ones here might like. I know this is not the promoting area, so I will not put a link, but instead a title.

I was just about to say that Escaflowne is probably my favorite isekai! Inuyasha is really good too T∆T
and Kyou kara Maoh too.

As for me, some of you already said it but, I don't like that there is no meaning to the character being isekai-ed. Trunk accident out of nowhere? And why this character and not any other? We need some information on the characters BEFORE they get isekai-ed, or at least, there has to be a properly explained reason as to why they got there. Plus, they have to bring something to the world, or the world has to bring something they could not have in their own world.

Of course, harems. Just, no. And why do they all love the MC, who's usually sooo unlovable??

And same as all of you, I really like the genre, but not how it's usually handled T_T
