LINE Webtoon - Opinions?

Haha My comic was featured a little while back but it didn't have a really big impact on my readership. They kinda picked a bad pic to represent it, though, so I'm not really surprised.

Webtoon editors have been SUPER travelling from city to city.

This summer they've been at Boston Comic Con, Rose City Comic Con, Baltimore Comic Con and this weekend New York Comic Con.

What percentage of your subscribers on LINE do you think actually read your comic, regularly I mean?

I've been very lucky over there to have gotten some promotion from them in the form of appearing in a Weekly Round-up and as a recommended title, which has gotten me a crazy amount of views and subscribers compared to Tapastic, but I think the number of actual readers is only maybe double that I get on here, which is to say, probably about 5 at a guess.

What I'm really asking is, is the audience really that much bigger on LINE, or do the readers just play faster and looser with what they'll subscribe to? Is it, oh, this looks cool sub... but I'll probably never read it.

Funny thing is that I asked a similar question to my irl friend since we were catching up to comics to read whilenotdoingourworkinclasscough

I have noticed not only on webtoons, but on tapas as well that there are subbers that:
-binge reads until to the latest before subbing
-the ones that read the first update and subs
-and then there's the one that subs and reads later in their spare time (either by a couple of eps or binge read)

Having a free selection of things to read, readers would sub here and there and eventually will probably read all of the things they're subbed to. I guess it's like being able to nab some free books someone is giving away but then you're too busy to read em so you wail until you have time! And maybe once a reader is caught up and is heavily immersed into the series then that's one more regular reader added into your growing regulars. x)

From my experience though, I feel like there's like 5 or so regular readers on webtoons (then again I'm basing these on comments). Though I feel like I have a larger group of regulars on tapas since they leave comments for me to read in each update I post

It is, you can actually check you stats on webtoons if you click on 'dashboard' on the top right.
If I compare stats on my comic, on webtoons I have 18k subs and I get 19k views per update which says that a lot of people who do sub read the comic regularly. For tapastic on the other hand I have 11k subs but around 4-6k views per update, I actually feel it's on tapastic that people might not read my comic regularly while on webtoons readers are much more active, comment more, etc.
I also know a lot of people on webtoons read comics without subbing so you might actually have more readers than you think.

On Tapastic I know I get roughly the same views as the same subscribers I have. 500-800 (Per update). On Webtoon, I actually get more than the amount of subscribers I have per update, sometimes even double. (Currently this month I updated 1 time on webtoon, and my pageviews is sitting around 32k for a 16k subscribers) So I would say, yes, I think my subscribers do check out my comic per update, but on Webtoon you get a lot more hit due to, you guessed it:

(I also think the fact that my comic was picked to put into the recommended title section also helps a lot with boosting the amount of people subscribe and pageviews this month)

I also know that I do have a lot of regular on Webtoon compared to Tapastic. I usually receive about 100 comments or so per update from all different people, old and news.

I woke up to see that they took off ratings when browsing webtoons now? (you can still rate when you click on the actual webtoons though)

Seems like its based off likes based on your posts. It seems buggy at the moment since some don't show any at all

Oh yeah, makes sense! It seems like it starts showing numbers once it reaches 1k likes
I don't know if they'll implement this on their mobile app. I prefer this over ratings being shown tbh

From what I've seen, all ratings are hidden.

I kind of like it this way, it makes you have to click on the comic to see the rating, and even then you are most likely to read the plot synopsis first.

I like this change, it makes people less likely to judge a book by it's cover.

I just logged in to upload my new comic and saw the change, with no clue why. But reading these last few posts makes it all make sense. Mind, I'd just uploaded my comic and someone promptly voted me down, so same old same old :/

I agree. Comics that look ugly might actually be good and comics that look pretty might actually be less than what was advertised.

Yeah, this is probably a good change. Down voters won't have their incentive to do their dirty work anymore, but you can still rate the comic if you like it. Win win.

They offer payment and exposition which is nice + bigger audience but I can't keep the pace most people would like to see there.
I mean I have a job with no set schedule thus I can't draw every day to produce one episode a week.
Also navigation is incredibly lame and design is an atrocity.
@scythe mentioned that certain degree of competition helps to improve quality, which is true. But It can be very discouraging if it gets too cut-throat.

What comes about me personally - I don't know really. I can try LINE, though, only when I have more stuff to post.
