LINE Webtoon - Opinions?

The patience I am talking about is moreso direct patience? Sure, I get more people unsubbing on Webtoons than Tapas, but that's natural. What bothers me is webtoons commenters nagging me for sex scenes, or complaining about the plot at every step, trying to bully me into releasing Crimson Tracks on webtoons because they don't like Tapas or don't wanna get the coins to unlock it... or even attack each other. Webtoons users have straight up told each other to commit suicide. I have not seen that on Tapas. I've also seen more Webtoon users complaining about the romance not being straight.

So basically, some Webtoons users in my experience have less acceptance towards and patience with the creator, with the plot, with things not satisfying their shipper instincts and each other.

Regardless, on both platforms the MAJORITY of fans are nice people, the platforms themselves are useful and provide a chance you wouldn't have if you didn't post on them. For all you know, you could get noticed by site staff on either site at any moment out of the blue. If you ditch a site for little to no good reason, you are locking yourself out of that chance. So if you don't have contract with one site or the other, I suggest you post on both.

OH WOW that is bad O_O;;;;; my experience with readers in general have seemed to be quite nice. Minus a few people that always question why my episodes are too short or I'm taking too long to update so they are losing interest, etc.

I think that is more or less what most LGBT+ comics have to deal with. I don't know why when the story has those element, people immediately nags for sexual stuffs. I have seen the very same thing on Tapas too. For general comic that isn't LGBT+, Webtoon readers would be asking for ships, romance eve;; but I guess I can see why, romance is very popular on Webtoon.

Seriously? Wah... my webtoon readers seem to hop onto Tapas right away to support me when I tell them about the tipping function... on the other hand I have a few Webtoon featured friends that got attacked on Tapas for stop posting their comic and went Webtoon exclusive, a lot of their Tapas readers didn't want to go to Webtoon to follow their comic even though it's free either way. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It seems like both platform exists people of all kind. Personally I would try to not focus on the negative side of any platform, those things really tend to wear you down.

Yep, I agree. As I said, most people are good on both platforms. I try to focus on those people.

Webtoons might be more sensitive about material, that's something I am noticing too. If that's the case my comic is doomed to fail regardless. Either by lack of activity on Tap or being kicked off due to controversial topics from Webtoons. I actually have found Webtoons as more accepting. If you look at the romance section, since you mentioned it, Tapas is INUNDATED with BL comics. Webtoons is FAR more diverse in terms of the romance it has.

But I don't give a damn about people wanting a different plot. XD They can unsub then. I'm not writing my comic for them to tell me what to do. I can tell you i WON'T be picked up by Tapastic because I use the page by page format. So no point then for me. Possibly webtoons is the same, but if that's the case, I might as well focus on simply raising my numbers. If this is a numbers game, then I'll have to choose the winning side, whichever that its.

I don't think it is a JUST LGBTQ issue, I have seen people nagging on CIS/Hetero comics too. I would think with a younger population, they would be more open to it though? I don't read LGBTQ comics though, so I don't know much to be honest in that regard.

I just want to be able to focus on what will work best I guess? I am not trying to seem so negative, more or less talk it out with other artists on what would be best? Because I have so little time, I want to focus more to give my readers the best I can.

I can tell you i WON'T be picked up by Tapastic because I use the page by page format.

Bloodroot has been shown in the daily snack once and it has tapas official t-shirts, and it's page by page to be compatible for print (recently made the first volume available, actually). So you still have a shot at getting noticed and recieving exposure.

If this is a numbers game, then I'll have to choose the winning side, whichever that its.

As webtoon is discussing the new terms, have they paid artists for July and August yet? Or they are paying them after the new terms are set?

July had already been paid off, but not August. The old term was supposed to end the end of July, so I think August would be included in the new term and that is still being discussed right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they take a little longer to come out with the pledge for August. (When the whole program just started, they actually were 2-3 months late from pledging!)

I really don't see the wait as an issue because Webtoon is being nice enough to even extend the program.

How does any creator here keep track with the comments?
I started uploading yesterday, and didn't know until like 24 hours later that there has been a few comments.
It seems like the only way to find out is to keep visiting your own episode to see if there's any comment?
Is there a better way to get notified?

Sadly no, there isn't a comment notification anywhere :C Webtoon mostly focus on perfect the "reading" experience, rather than interaction between people or even giving people their own profile page. On the flip side, I see why they wouldn't have it. Series on Webtoon tend to get a lot of comment. 10, 20, myself has seen over 100 in a mere day. Notification can get a bit redundant.

Yeah, I agree. Some of the series I read on that site have hundreds and hundreds of comments on every update, so unless you could turn them off, having notifications could get tedious for their bread and butter creators.

But they already have a comments tab in your account page. I don't see why they don't just aggregate all the comments you receive there instead of just the ones you make.

There are always people commenting like that on your Webtoons. I published mine (about Baby Alpacas) on Webtoon and received some interesting comments as well.

Hi everyone! I hope it's not awkward that I mainly post my comic on Webtoon but I'm joining the forum discussion here (though I do have 1 episode posted on Tapas). I've been lurking for a long time, but comic making is a lonely process I really want to talk to more creators, so here I am =)

Anyway, Webtoon has been pretty awesome for me in terms of subscription rate. The response that I've gotten there way exceeds my initial expectation. As for comments, I've gotten my fair share of snarky comments. Not gonna lie, it does sting! And it makes me wonder at times, just why am I working my butt off for these people! But I try to take it in my stride, and watching Youtube videos where other artists give advice on dealing with negative comments helps a lot, haha

Btw, it's super awesome to get to actually 'meet' other Webtoon creators here. I'm feeling quite starstruck right now!

Oh that's great news. I'm not too worry about when they are paying but I am worrying about what my financial situation will be by Dec of this year. That's why I am asking in case I have to take up another part time or get a loan or something.

Just planning ahead to see how to organize my schedule that's all.

You humble me. But don't forget hats and helmets! I've tried my hand at all manner of cranial accoutrement... beanie, brim, police (hat and helmet), horned decorative thing, crown.. even a toupee! I'm yet to take a shot at a fireman's helmet, but I'm sure I'll get the chance soon enough, because things are HEATING UP!!!
