LINE Webtoon - Opinions?

I'm completely unmotivated to update my comics on Line, I already have to change the format and manipulate the size, and after the first batch of strips I posted on there (total of 2) my comic was rated a 2, and then after the second batch (which is about 30+ i don't really remember) it went up to about 3 (yay~). I also don't care for the lack of auto updating I mean Smackjeeves and Wordpress both have auto update and as a person who uploads consistently on scheduled days on multiple platforms (who the hell am I kidding I only upload on five and two of them are uploaded thanks to one of them...) I can't wait until the time to upload my newest strip because chances are I'm at work or too busy doing school work. I don't hate Line, I just have no motivation to put a lot of effort into uploading my strips on there at this time.

When do you think is the best day to post your webcomic for max exposure?
For both LINE and Tapas..
I tried experimenting by posting updates of my comic on different days..
This is on LINE, I still haven't posted on tapas yet..
I can't get a definite result.. XD

I'm curious about this too. I do Mon and Thurs, but after my update from yesterday only got two new subs, I'm wondering if I should change.

I have an additional question. I have 30 episodes, and ive been updating regularly since Feb, but I only have 135 subs... am I doing something wrong? Maybe the story just isn't that appealing to people? At the very least I don't think there's a problem with the art.

I've been driving myself a little crazy on this. It seems other comics of the same length have maybe 400-700 subs just from skimming. I started advertising on instagram and twitter but not much has changed.

I looked at your webcomic..

Now, given that my own webcomic doesn't really have that much subs too, I'm not gonna be the best guy to give you advice on how to gain more subs.

But from my experience, A comic with a thumbnail that stands out attracts more readers. And with more people checking out your work, you raise the chance of more people ''subbing" to your comic.. So maybe improve your main thumbnail.. With regards to the art of your comic, it's actually pretty good.. Better than a lot of comics i've seen in the discovery section of LINE. at least in my opinion.. Maybe color the earlier chapters.

Oh wow thanks so much! ^^ Yeah, I am planning on changing the icon, but going back and coloring thw beginning is a good idea too. There's a LOT of b/w chapters so I have wondered if people just can't make it through them. Thanks so much for the support!Good luck to you to! <3

I don't really have a fixed day in the week to update my comic because I update on specific date of the month (4th and 18th every month, so the day of the week change up all the time) but I found I receive the most activity when I update around 4PM my time (GMT-6) perhaps because it's the peek of time when majority of US/Western residents get home from school or work. Hope that info can help!

Sometimes comic on Webtoon can be a hit or miss, not every comic that is uploaded on there will automatically gain more traction than they do on other sites. I know a few creators on Tapas also said they do a lot better on Tapas compare to on Webtoon and vice versa. All I can say is both of the genres that you put your comic in are possibly the most competitive on Webtoon, sometimes new comic just pass people by. Promoting your comics, make connection with people, beside that I don't think there is much things to do, your comic looks fine to me!

For me Saturday mornings are the worst days to upload, at least on Tapas. The evening is mildly better, but not as great as a weekday.
About Webtoons, Sundays are great days to update, no matter what time of the day. I started uploading Inktober specials and a Sunday comic in the past three weeks every Sunday and they did superb, often better than some of my regular uploads.
Of course, the Inktober special weren't comics but illustrations and might have a different effect on readers. But the Sunday comic I uploaded this morning did good too so far.
I'd definitely would give it a try to upload on a Sunday and see what happens.

I tried this last week on webtoons. Same thing happened to me. I uploaded my comic on a sunday and it did better than when I did any other day, though not by much. It's probably because there's no work or school for most people on sunday..

Funny, I found that comics do better on weekdays, especially when nearing Friday. And I uploaded at different timings, once at 1am UTC+08, once at 3am, once at 11pm. My numbers jump more at 3am than any other timings.

I've been having this issue where I cant sync my Webtoon comic/account with my Patreon- this mess has been going on for almost a year now, and it's really starting to piss me off the more I think about it.

When I initially signed up for Webtoons I didnt have my Patreon complete, so when it asked me for a Patreon link, I declined. A couple weeks to a month later, I finally put my Patreon page together, but now Webtoons cant seem to recognize my page link. I've sent an e-mail tothem earlier this year about this issue and more or less they just "ho-hummed" and "hem-hawed" about it. I havent heard anything else from them since April...

Here we are near the end of the year and I STILL cant sync my Patreon to my Webtoon account. A lot of the other stuff concerning Webtoon doesnt bother me as much- except for their "impersonal" aspect of dealing with issues.

I've been hitting the minimum requirements for some months and I think I have a few advices:

• Focus on gaining subscribers at the beginning. I understand that it can sound obvious, but I know people that focus on providing a batter experience, instead of gaining exposition. For example: my strategy was to use the backlog I had to post every day. Not post it all at once or by chapters/scenes. I posted one page every day for a month. It made me gain 500 subs per week. It was great exposition!

• After that one month of posting every day, I posted one page every week. ALWAYS. Never missed one. Readers love consistency.

• I started to hit the minimum necessary for the payments. It kept going on for a few months until my views dropped A LOT. My subs continue to go up, slowly compared to before, but steady. Since their requirements are avarage views/update, I decided to stop posting every week, and started to update every other week with double the pages. It worked! I noticed that not every reader wants to log on every week. They wait a little more to read. My views started to spread to the other days instead of only on the update day.

In the end it's really a thing you have to discover yourself. I guess it's a different experience for everyone. Hit me up if you have any other questions =D

TBH it's nothing that the typical advice for growing your audience ANYWHERE doesn't already cover. Hitting the minimum requirement for the pledge program requires both subscriber counts and consistent pageviews, after all.

smile You know, I'm always thinking there must be this super secret everyone is withholding from me about gaining subscribers because I'm not cool enough of something. The thing that has been bugging me lately is ever since the discover update on the app my sub gain has been total shit at least in the beginning, every time I would update my comic before this change I would gain 60-100 new readers within a day, but now I'm lucky if I even get 10 in a day. After a few days however, I gained the amount of subs I was originally supposed to get (scratches head) either webtoons is buggy from the update or I need to start updating on weekend afternoons.

Either that or people were quite busy with midterm exam. My view counts on both Webtoon and Tapas dropped the last week or so too, so does a lot of my Webtoon friends.

AWESOME NEWS!!

The webtoon x patreon program extends until they have spent 1 million dollars more on discover creators (for comparison, they spent 750.000 dollars on us so far. So we can hopefully expect it to run another year) or until december 31st 2018; whichever comes first.

Also another really interesting part in the latest notice is the part where they promise to open up more opportunities for us to monetize our comic. I don't know about you guys, but I'm eagerly waiting for more info on that one!
