I currently use clip studio, but medibang is a good free alternative.

I use Photoshop, but that’s a bit pricey these days. I’ve just bought Clip Studio Pro which is very good.

50$ for Pro and 219$ for EX (main difference is that ex had more advanced animation and export, including batch exports, functions), they often get 50% off sales

If you're willing to spend money, I'd suggest clip studio when it goes on sale.

Clip Studio Paint is really good for comics and there are pixel brushes on there as well

I tend to bounce between Photoshop and Painter. Photoshop is a monthly fee, but is what I know best and has a lot of tools. Painter is good because it offers a better set of painting tools, and is a one time fee. (I paid $50 for Essentials 8 when it was on sale)

I usually use Sketchpad.io for drawing and doodling. But I heard Clip Studio Paint is good

if you're looking for a dedicated art program with a simple layout i'd recommend firealpaca or medibang paint, speaking as a user of both.

both are free to download, offer tons of free brushes (medibang simply need you to set up a cloud account, also free) and allows you to make your own brushes; not to mention a fair amount of filter, editing and screentone options and other comic making tools. plus firealpaca has an onion skin mode for flip book/frame-by-frame style animation

Gonna copy everyone else and say Clip Studio Pro, lol. Medibang and Krita are also good free alternatives, but if you wait for a sale you can get Clip Studio for like $25. And if you're in need of a drawing tablet, Huion has some good ones for a low price. I use a Huion Inspiroy HS64 and it cost me like $25 on sale. Works great with Medibang, Krita, and CSP.

I use an old version of Photoshop. I would not really recommend Photoshop unless you need it for other things (like for a job) because it can get super pricey. But if you are a student, you might be able to get a discount on the subscription. I know in the past they used to offer a year long free trial for students but I am not sure if they do that anymore.

Clip Studio Pro might be a better option for beginners, if you wait for the sale, you can get it for a good price.

I use a vector drawing program called Inkscape. It's an open-source alternative to Adobe Illustrator that does a lot of the same stuff, plus it's free to download.

I'd say it depends on your need. I'm sure it's already been recommended, but if what you do is highly comics I would definitely recommend Clip Studio (Pro/EX). I have the EX version for the unlimited animation cells, but if you don't need it - Pro is just as good. It's super worth it, and it's definitely helped my workflow. The fact that I can save templates (sketch layers/folders/frames) for future use, and auto-actions are time savers. I can't recommend it enough.

Clip Studio Paint, it’s the cartoonist’s choice for a reason

I am currently using clip studio paint and ibis paint x , check them out they are worth it .

I highly recommend Clip Studio Paint, the asset store alone makes it worth it's price.

would you want to adapt your style, or keep it more as is? i recommend https://www.pixilart.com/ for more pixelated art (it's also free!)

i'm also going to second other people's suggestions of Clip Studio Paint (an absolutely fantastic program, bit of a learning curve due to the layout) or Medibang. Clip Studio Paint is on sale very often, so if you're thinking about gettting it, maybe bookmark the website and check back on it to see if it's on sale about every month or so.

since i saw someone recommend Inkscape, Illustrator is also a really good program that's very similar . . . . VERY pricey though. never used Inkscape but i will say, if you have the chance to learn how to do vector art, it's a hard learning curve but it's really worth it.
