Love triangle problems

I'm not an expert in Romance and two of my characters decided to torment me and like the same person so yeah... I'm having trouble deciding which is which...

I hope someone can give me some insight about this...

Here's the choices:

• Guy A- He is willing to sacrifice everything he have (fortune, status, property, everything) for you and will love you unconditionally. A decent guy and an ideal man. He is like he have everything, every good things you want to a guy is in him. He is somewhat possessive but he will never force you to do things against your will. And his love is genuine.
• Guy B- He's someone reliable, responsible, goofy and has an annoying personality that could irritate everyone near the vicinity. At first glance, he looks like a womanizer plus he flirts almost anyone he see interesting but he is faithful to his one true love. He is honest and he never lied to the person he loves. He never opens but put down his walls for her. This person showed her what true happiness is despite his standing in life.

This situation that I made is kinda problematic and killing them was one of the option which I later terminated. But hearing these insights and experiences, it truly enlightened me to be much more observant and must think critically. The act of choosing is a hard decision and with your help, I finally overcome one of the problem of my story.

Hahahaha! This is why I ask the people here because they are giving me the headaches. Killing them was an option back in the day but I think it is already too much death for my series. So I decided to just let them be. And that left me in this situation

As ideal and dreamy as Person A would be, there's so much at stake for them that it feels one-sided. They're willing to do everything for me and lose everything for me, but would I be able to match that intensity? Would the MC be able to match that intensity?

With Person B, the stakes feel lower. Sure, they're a flirt, but they're not a cheater. They're loyal to the people they love. They put up walls, but what person doesn't put up walls? It feels more human, a bit more flawed, and you put in more effort to show personality (goofy, reliable, flirty).

That and let's face it, Person B has their boundaries whereas Person A sounds like someone the MC could take advantage of.

First one is a gaslighter with fixation issues. His everything will revolve around his loved one but that will also mean he'll want everything as he wants it. As the relationship progresses you're more of a possesion than a loved one.

Second one is is one who's done with relationships after so many failed ones and has no time for bullshit. He'll bounce the second things get sour because he's absolutely over relationship drama and theatricals.He'll absolutely tell it to your face each time instead of ghosting you. He also doesn't want a puppy just because he made her happy once. He's happy alone and has been before you came into his life. Good luck getting this one girl, he doesn't need you.

I think you have just defined their nature although I gave little details about them. Wow! Reading your perspective greatly helped me. I feel like you know my characters more than I do. Also, they are just side-characters that play a crucial role and their love story is an element that adds up to the conflict.

Guy A needs some boundaries in what he'll do for the girl. He probably doesn't understand that love doesn't need to have a sacrifice in order to show the person you're loyal and devoted for them. Trust issues needs to be addressed and he needs to acknowledge that their partner doesn't need to be monitored to sate his possessive tendencies.

Guy B might be faithful but there's a problem with his flirting. If he doesn't stop during his relationship then it could cause a rift - might cause the girl to be insecure with what she doesn't have. And might send mixed signals with someone else who is interested with him too, and that's another love triangle to deal with.

Overall, Guy B sounds like an easier choice between the two men. Just like the other person said before me, Guy B feels more more human. You wrote his personalities, flaws and what he'd do to the girl if they get together beyond materialistic needs. He would adjust for her but not enough to lose who he is as a person and states that he'd put down his walls for her.

But it would be nice to know how the girl and Guy A would try to find a middle ground with the issues presented. Especially, if Girl and Guy A have a hug gap in economic status and the girl doesn't want to be seen and shamed as a gold digger from everyone. If that's the route, you'll end up going for.

I would warn anyone against guy A.
Guy B probably would work for some people, maybe the type who is more independent and doesn't spend a huge lot of time with him. 'Annoying' people can be fun at smaller doses. Someone who is not the jealous type would probably be able to deal with the superficial flirting, and the non-jealousy can also fit a more independent character.

I would personally choose none, but B seems a better choice if a choice needs to be done.

I do see a lot of issues if ever Guy A and the girl would end up together. Currently, the girl is aware that Guy A gives her special attention and gifts and that is why she is a bit uncomfortable with it. I think I forgot to include, but, she has no idea that Guy A is in love with her because Guy A can't say it directly and Guy B is openly saying that he likes her but the girl doesn't believe anything he say (because of his nature)... Oh my gosh, as I wrote this, her relationship with Guy A is much clearer to me now. I need to take note of this realization. Thank you very much for this insight

Does their love interest have a "preference" when you are writing their scenes?

I've noticed in a lot of work, when one character is established as a love interest, they typically will stay the love interest until they are written out. This even includes storylines when a love triangle is mentioned.

One way that could help you decide between the two guys is introduce a fourth person into the dynamic. One of the biggest things I hate about love triangles is that elimanate all other options. Just because two guys like the same person, the person isn't obligated to choose one of them. And the guys are allowed to fall for someone else.
