Meeting someone you admire

I've always wanted to meet Serj Tankian in person (for those that don't know, the lyricist and singer of System of a Down). He's been a great inspiration for my musical side and he's held up as my favorite musician throughout the years.

I... am going to be a bit of a downer, but this is a serious answer.

I would have liked to have met Terry Pratchett at some point. After freaking out (because it's Terry freakin' Pratchett), I would have just wanted to shake his hand and tell him a sincere thank you for everything. And then, in a perfect world, he would have read me a story, and it would have been wonderful.

Alas, Pterry passed away recently, and it genuinely felt like being punched in the heart. In a way, he felt like more than just my favourite writer - he felt like a distant grandfather.

@KaiLynx I've considered writing a letter, but I read once in an interview with him he's never really enjoyed those (he said was a scared that they knew where he lived)

Hm, I've actually met one person that I really really admire - this was back in 2013 at the first Image Expo. Brian K Vaughan was just sitting at his table staring off into the distance. There weren't many people at this con (probably why they moved to a much smaller venue in subsequent years), so not many people were stopping by his table (which is crazy because it's BRIAN K VAUGHAN!). This was a little while before SAGA had come out.

I got a rare chance to talk to him for about half an hour while he signed some books. We actually didn't really talk much about comics at all - he ended up giving me a ton of life and relationship advice. Our conversations were all about the background noise that occurs behind the scenes while we write, all the small things that creep into our writing. At the end of our conversation, I blurted out "I want to be just like you when I grow up!"

He paused midway through a signature and slowly looked up at me and replied, "You want to be bald?"

And that was that.

Hm, I would also really love to meet Karen Berger one day. I attribute most of my love for comics to her, although I guess, I have no idea what I'd say to her.

I met a lot of artists I admire at CTN expo last year, most of them are illustrators and animators. But i was too shy to stay for a chat so i just mostly said hi and told them I loved their work. Lol. My favorite moment was when I met one of my favorite illustrators, Pascal Campion. He was very nice and humble and he doodled me in the book I handed for him to sign I told him he should come back and do another talk at my school (which he previously did) and he said he would if given the chance again. Anyway, I really enjoyed CTNx!

I definitely wanna meet legendary Disney animator Glen Keane. He was at the expo at the opening ceremony, but I totally missed it! Maybe next time.

I'd really like to meet Stephen King, I've admired his work since I was a kid. The movie IT did kinda mess me up a little at the age of 9, it was my fault though because I knew I was too young to watch those kinds of movies but didn't care at the time, I had nightmares about evil clowns for a couple years from that damn movie lol
I've read some of his books when I got older but I've leaned more towards the movies because I was busy with my art and school stuff, I'd like to read more of them but never have the time to :< I actually live in the New England area which is where a lot of his stories take place.

My idol is the mangaka Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece. I admire the way he comes up with new adventures, characters, and moreover the way he transforms topics of the real life in sagas of his series with his unique touch.
If I meet him, I would just tell him THANK YOU, because he's my main source of inspiration and I really admire someone who keeps creating a so long story for pleasure and keeps doing an excellent job with each page.

Unfortunately I'll never meet Carl Sagan as he is dead. I mean I could meet him, but I don't think it would socially acceptable.

Not necessarily someone I admire, but being a HUGE Mortal Kombat fan, it was awesome to meet the guy who played Jax in the Mortal Kombat movie when I was leaving work one day. Awesome and random. That and the insane amount of wrestlers I've met going to so many events is the closet I could say I come.

Though I will say that it would be an honor if one day I met either Ed Boon or Akira Toriyama!

I always thought that'd be cool to do. But since I don't know what anyone here looks like IRL I probably wouldnt know if they were one at first unless they told me or they were tabling at a convention or something.
