Misgendering you or your characters

Honestly, the only person people ever misgender is me because of my icon. I am a woman and a very feminine woman too. I don't get offended because it's an innocent mistake.

I have bots in my comic so gender is complicated there. They do have genders, but it's basically a switch i their brain for the customers to choose- sometimes coming with particular body modifications. In universe, the companies were trying to appeal to all markets.

I don't normally mind if people get confused online, but I sometimes mind if it's in person (cause I really don't look male). It depends if I can tell the person was flustered or not or distracted because sometimes people misspeak. I do try very hard not to misgender my students (I do get Trans in there sometimes, no openly gender fluid yet) since at the point I get them, if they are transitioning, some teachers refuse to use the pronouns they ask.

My son.... well with his autism he often misgenders because he has trouble identifying features. He really does try, bless him. And my students who run into him are understanding and will sit and explain which pronouns and he will work on remembering for that person.

I was once misgendered in real life, but I don't blame that person, since I was wearing baggy clothes that made me look like a very big and scary guy. Didn't help it happened in the dark. xD In the internet it never happened to me, probably because I usually have cute or chibi stuff as a profile picture.

As for my characters, male ones get misgendered a lot, but I can't draw manly men to save my life, so I'm not mad when it happens. One polite correction and everything is fine. It would be a problem though if someone misgendered them on purpose or had a problem with me correcting them.

when it comes to balor - the primary victim of this - im kinda at peace w it? shes visually coded as male bc fomor all are and shes based on a male character in mythology, its very easy to miss that shes a girl. i misgender her too, like, all the time. i dont like it bc i dont write heterosexuals but its like... whatever

My characters rarely get misgendered. Occasionally someone might mistake one of my long-haired male characters for a woman, but it’s not a big deal and easily corrected. If it was happening a lot, with characters who weren’t designed to look androgynous or gender non conforming, it would bother me because it would reflect on my skill as an artist.

I get misgendered a fair bit too. Online because my projects tend to have a larger female than male reader base, so people just assume. Offline sometimes because I’m a bit androgynous. As long as it’s not on purpose, and they don’t get too weird if I correct them, it’s not an issue at all.

If it's not on purpose, then it's all good. I just correct them. As long as they're not doing it on purpose or continue doing it for the lulz.

When I was a kid, I've been misgendered two or three times because i looked like a boy lol (really short hair, tomboyish, baggy clothes). I used to feel offended by it, but now i look back and just laugh at those silly moments. On the internet, I think people have only mistaken me for a guy a few times but it doesn't happen often.

As for my characters, I've never had people misgendering them, really. I don't think i have any androgynous characters, though that might be something I'd like to draw in the future.

I usually don't care if people misgender me by looks alone but when they insist on using the wrong pronoun despite knowing my name I feel disrespected.

I don't mind people misgendering me on the internet (never happened in real life) but I'm a little confused when I see them doing so in my novels. I think it's pretty obvious both my main characters are men (for all my projects) since I'm consistently using the male pronoun and stuff like positions are also male ones like 'king' instead of 'queen'. I don't really mind the misgendering but I've seen people read about 40 chapters of one of my projects and then ask if they were both men and if this might be gay romance. Well ... yeah. I always feel a little bad to break the news to them that they're right since those people mostly don't enjoy BL

In the Internet I don't care, And in RL I don't care as long as they are not homophobic people that want to hit me .
But nowadays I look like an old lady.

About my characters, I don't care as long as they don't do it on purpose. And it also depends of the personality of the character.

Misgendering me? I don’t care. I don’t think it’s a big deal. I’m good with he or she, not very fond of they but if someone wants to use it idc.

Misgendering my characters? Mistakes happen so I’d politely correct them. It also just depends as one of my characters is referred to as the opposite gender but said character doesn’t care enough to correct anyone - and no one ever asks. Over all tho, it’s pretty hard to misgender my characters since it’s pretty obvious. My fear is that one day people will assume the gender of my characters because they don’t conform to gender roles. Going even further my fear is that people will treat my characters as tho they belong in our world - considering in my comic everyone is equal and gender roles don’t exist. At least not in terms of behavior. How they dress, maybe, but... basically what we’d consider a tomboy in our world, no one would bat an eye at. Same for what we’d consider a feminine man (or a man that has traditionally feminine hobbies) - literally nobody cares because it’s just an individual being an individual.

Plus in my comic, tho it hasn’t been brought up yet, gendered terminology is a big deal. For instance: what would be a female Senator in our world would be called a Senatrix. Calling her a Senator would be like a slap in the face as it’s disrespectful to her actual station. However in this world “Senator” also means “male member of the Senate” and “Senatrix” is “female member of the Senate”. Rather than Senatrix being “female Senator”.

But anyway, if they misgendered my characters I’d correct them. If they kept doing it, I might get annoyed.

Perks of being genderfluid - not caring about pronouns XD I go with she/her by default since that's my sex since birth, but I don't correct people when they refer to me as a male. Because to me both are fine.I did correct people in the past, but after a long journey of self-discovery, gender doesn't matter anymore. When someone asks "are you boy or girl?" I just reply "yes" :''D (or "potato")

I don't really care. Actually, I have had people misgender my characters before and it wasn't a big deal or anything. It's funny though because I wasn't trying to make the character look like the opposite gender. lol I figure the reader would figure it out eventually on their own. I've been referred to as a guy before and I don't really care. Usually it's the other people who will point out "Hey, she's a girl".

I assume that most webcomic artists are female since most I've run into seem to be female.

I am only ever truly confident in two things in life. 1: I don't know. And 2: I don't care. They are my truth. My way. My light. My religion...

(But legit, it's almost never meant in ill will, so why bother? We've all shit our pants at least once. Though, sometimes the audience can get confused if a character's gender isn't made apparent, so that MAY be something to keep in mind)

I usually called people's in the internet that I didn't exactly know the gender as 'they' until exactly sure what their gender are because I don't want to call them what they didn't are. That's something I want to do to show my respect rather than assuming something.

There's no he or she on my country language because the what we say it is gender neutral (with some confusion who's we're talking about if it's never mentioned).

As for my character, they haven't been misgendered before.

Pete and Puppo is a name macho enough they won't be mistaken as a female names. ;3

Back in the day, my internet persona was more gender neutral. Then one day I decided to just identify as male in order to help with some gender dysphoria I was dealing with. But then I realized I liked being addressed as male more than female. I don't really get misgendered online nowadays due to my user name. I don't like to talk about gender too often on social media, so no one really questions it too much.

When it comes to interacting with other people, I have a bad habit of calling genderless/unknown gender people "he". I have gotten better at this.

As for my characters, I don't really care. I like having character who look or act androgynous, so then maybe being misgendered might happen, I guess.

I couldn't care less about gender. There was a period of my life where I was consistently being mistaken for a guy, even when wearing makeup. It happened so often that a gay friend introduced me to people as Mark. My little sister got in on it and told people her big brother Mark would beat them up. It led to some rather hilarious situations and was useful for getting rid of guys who paid her inappropriate attention. I don't recall any issues with my characters.

Since I usually go by my real name when dealing with my creative works, and 'Joanne' is a pretty femme name, people normally get it right. When I go under usernames I don't mind if people refer to me as 'they' I kind of like it. Makes me feel like I'm this mysterious being/figure.

Funnily when I was a little kid I got offended whenever people thought I was a boy (in retrospect I was rather tomboyish). BUT now I wouldn't care.

Many of my characters gender is intentionally confusing, so it doesn't bother me at all haha.

I always got misgendered as a girl on Deviant Art. My username was JackleKnightCreations, and everyone always mistook it for JackieKnightCreations. It doesn’t bother me. I think it’s funny. For my stories, gender is important, since it deals with the main character’s Dad wanting a manly, sporty son. But he’s really just an uncoordinated clutz. So I make sure the genders come across.

I was believed a "he" when I played mmorpg, because I preferred using male characters. It was fun for me. People seemed more honest.
