I'm a huuuuuge sucker for "arrogant/haughty/selfish person ends up in a situation where they need the help of the people they previously mistreated" as is extremely apparent from my webcomic.
I'm also in general a big sucker for the Character Who's Not A Bad Guy But Has A Dark Secret, whether that's the vampire that's really, really trying hard not to kill people but y'know, can't ever totally quell the bloodlust, or the character who's really a good person but immediately judged for being a Traditionally Evil Creature and has to hide this fact, or the alien who's supposed to be blending in with humans and is desperately bad at it. I LOVE ALL OF THESE THINGS.
I love the stressed-out second-in-command archetype, the henchman who is clearly more competent than his boss but gets saddled with making his bosses plans work somehow and handling everything and doesn't get paid nearly enough to put up with this.
I like found families, adventuring parties begrudgingly tolerating each other and then growing to really care about each other, characters who think they're going to hate each other starting to see something special in the other person and being surprised when they miss them and falling slowly in love.
I like genuinely reformed antagonists who get a chance at a happy ending.
I like Happy Endings.
