The room was dark. Remy heard quiet weeping from next to him. He already knew without turning to look that it was his younger brother. They were hiding behind the bed, listening to the screams, crashes and wild growls that came from behind the closed door. When mum screamed, they both covered their ears, crying silently. It was quiet for a moment but then steps headed towards the door that separated the boys from the horrid events happening on the other side where mum and their sister had been trapped. They could hear long claws sinking on the wood, carving marks that would never disappear from the door, when the beast tried to make its way to remaining targets.

“R-Remy, I’m scared,” his brother whispered.

“I’m scared too but everything’s gonna be fine James,” Remy said, hugging his brother.

Something heavy slammed against the door and it groaned. Another slam and the hinges cracked. The boys hugged each other tightly when the door slammed open. From the darkness they could see two red eyes and hear a low growl….

I always loved the character Charlie from my story. I had so much fun describing him, and although he only played a supporting role, I often want to revisit and finish the novel just for his character's sake!

Tic. Tic. Tic. Tic...

The thoughts of the young princess were interrupted by a second set of ticking noises, approaching her from an open door down the hall. What appeared to be a man, dressed in a black suit and stove pipe hat approached her and bowed low to the floor. He regained his posture with an emotionless face of porcelain glass. Just below his chin, where his neck would meet his head, his glass skin opened up to allow his head to move and reveal the spinning clockwork and gears that gave him life. A voice came from within the man.

“My Lady Henrietta,” He spoke with a voice that reminded her of a record player, “Your presence is requested outside. Your father would like you by his side during the ceremony.”

What is it doing now?
It just stan there an get more and more red in the head of anger, it shakes the whole body and it begins to give a sound, a very high sound that just goes on forever. I immediately pull back my ears to avoid more pain in my ears and yell::

"Stop it!!!"

But it does not work. I poke it, but it does not move, It just keeps on whining. I hurry to take my elixir so nothing is going to happen. But how do I stop this Trollfairy before something more happens with it? I will try to push it, it can come out of this trance.

I push it and it will not move, I try to push it harder,

It did not work, it is still standing there and now the body begin to get bigger

Torn about choosing a paragraph or two. So many tense moments, all powerful in their own way... Let's do one I have posted so far:

“And what do you intend to do with him?” The old farmer pointed a spoon at John’s door.

“Nothing.” My voice was low, weak as my heart ached. “He will be a priest, taking a vow of celibacy. I have no intentions of falling in love with your grandson…”

The spoon slammed on the table, jerking my eyes back up. “Are you deaf, boy?”

I could hear his words from earlier echo through my mind, he likes you.

Standing, I leaned over the table, my eyes on his as I whispered my answer, “You want me to be his shield. I want to be his sword. When John leaves this place, I will be just that. Nothing more, nothing less. His mind will be filled with teachings and learning of a world far greater than me or this farm. I am a tool for him and him alone, left behind as a parting gift by his grandfather to ensure he succeeds with his life intact.”

The old man’s face twisted, and he nodded.

Mel heard the doorbell chime and she raised her head from her Austen, expecting to see Zeke. Three children glided down the centre aisle, their gazes fixed on her. Before the invasion, she’d have watched them for mischievous behaviour. Now, most children were Glaza-owned. Their eyes levelled on her were solid white and devoid of any emotion.
A sharp pang of fear gripped her chest and stole her breath. She’d never been this close to a Glaza, let alone three. Mel pressed the button under the counter, letting Dad know downstairs that there was trouble. Seconds later, he bounded from the kitchen. He took one look at their ‘customers’ and gripped her by the shoulders, shoving her towards the back door.

Perhaps it was because he could read the minds of those who ruled, but he was never one to care about the affairs of other countries. He cared about the fate of citizens as an idea—he was obligated to as a member of the Royal Family, but had never had an emotional investment. Thankfully, he didn’t need such a thing to work to ensure that a war didn’t break out.

A paragraph that’s a liiiiiittle in the future - won’t be posted until the end of this weekend, beginning of next week - but I like it:

Cassian lay on his side with his arms crossed over his chest, gripping his shoulders, his back to Thade as he lay snoring quietly in the other bed. He was under the sheets, but he’d been awake since long before dawn. Before going to sleep he’d been thorough in brushing his teeth to eliminate the taste of alcohol lingering on his lips. Her words fell on deaf ears as Anax began to rub and search with his tendrils. As his fog met her skin, Patience could not help but give into his soft touch. It was a stark contrast to the confining cold pressure she had felt encased in his body just moments ago. Perhaps some animal part of the girl’s brain was yearning for comfort after that shock, but every stroke, twirl, pat, and any other motion he made felt pleasurable. She was losing herself in his caress. Guilt welled within her. She should not be enjoying the advances of this monster.

Not really proud of it, to be honest, but pretty characteristic of my style.

Nothing like the appalling dirt-skinned females of the desert. And yet, he was called upon to service them whenever they pleased, their hands shooting out from the darkness of their tents and dragging him into their frightening world of pain and desire. Here, amassed together, they scorned and slandered him. But at night, they pursued him restlessly, waking him from his agitated sleep and demanding that he dominated them. Strange females who wanted to be slaves to a slave for a pleasurable moment. They wanted him to take them for a safe walk to the dark side.

I just reread the thing and it is already giving me a headache. Guess we are going for yet another rewrite. I spend more time rewriting than writing, to be honest.

Just finished uploading this chapter, but I'm most fond of how I ended it. There's a huge sense of purpose. Things feel like they're wrapping up now, leading to a close. Spoilers I guess?

There is a place she wants to take me.

When the darkness eventually unfurls before my eyes, surprise doesn’t even bother me. I knew, I think, a long time ago, where I would eventually have to go, and when I look down, I see that Mei has made herself a part of me. Her body, spun around mine. Her arms extending on mine, providing me fingers on one, providing me with the missing parts of the other.

She says nothing, but there is a feeling in my chest greater than apathy.

It is not anticipation. It is not regret. It is…

Things are growing now here, have made home here. Thriving while their Mistress no longer breathes.

In this courtyard, the pagoda doors are closed. When she and I press our hands to the doors, they part willingly and soundlessly.

It is acceptance.

I'm not sure others would agree. But I'm a sucker for cliffhangers.

Walking down the dirt, rocky overgrown path. Parts of the ground got flooded from the heavy thick rain. Small little rocks rolled down the steep parts making little waterways. Trying to keep his balance, still has he felt his chest heavy he took a single step, before feeling his stomach sink. His heart skip a pace, just like when you go to step an extra step on a staircase, that doesn’t exist. Jared could only see the ground before him coming closer to his face. A rock caved underneath his foot.
