Non-Tapas Novel in Community Picks?

So, I'm not entirely sure what's going on with it, but I came across something that sat a little weird when I was looking at the new community picks.

I began to read one novel (I'm not sure if I should name it), very much enjoyed it for four chapters, but then came to the fifth chapter and this was simply a note telling people to read the rest of the story on Radish. This was last updated with content around NYE, so it doesn't seem as if they plan to post anymore.

It seemed strange a) because it wasn't nominated, but I realise there were other sources, b) because it doesn't meet the 10 episode requirements for a community pick, and c) because it's not actually a tapas novel.

The last seems pretty essential to me. There's so many amazing comics and novels on this site that deserve the spotlight, and at least 100 others were nominated, so why would the staff choose to showcase a novel you can't even read on tapas?

Can you give some insight into this @ratique?

I just checked the Community Picks section. The only novels on there do have Tapas accounts. Are you sure you actually saw a non-Tapas novel?

I think they meant that the novel is indeed posted in Tapas (thus needing an account), yet it only serves as a preview (5 chapters) to a full version hosted in another site. I think that is where the problem lies.

Though I believe Ratique did mention that the Community Picks selection ranges outside the forums as well, since not all creators make an account for the forums. But I'll leave it to her to answer the other questions raised on this thread.

I just saw the novel in question...maybe it was a glitch? that is weird

I did wonder if it might be a glitch. If so, then this makes a notification of it to staff at least.

Yes, which is perfectly valid. Except you ... can't actually read this novel on tapas, which feels like it should be a requirement for tapas community picks. Like starry-sea said, hopefully it's just a glitch anyway, but that should be fixed so the actual choice can have it's time on the front page

The novel was submitted by the community and we don't review the whole series before adding them aside of making sure they don't break guidelines (Nudity, sex, etc). I'm guessing when the series was nominated it likely didn't have the latest update out or the creator decided to make changes to it.

These are things that can happen every once in a while.

I'm curious to know, are these the community picks that people submitted during the last Community Picks II thread? Is it public knowledge how you decide which novels make it or not?

Thanks for the response! I do realise these things happen, I was half expecting it to be a glitch! Was this a novel from the old community picks then? I half-queried it as having got through because it does break the guidelines on being over 10 episodes, doesn't it?

It was either submitted via the thread or to us directly. Our team reviews to make sure the series don't go against our guidelines for features.

Yes, it will be staying up at this point. I don't want to replace it with another series that then won't get a full weeks worth of feature.
