Taking some inspiration from Robert McKee's Story, a new question for everybody to think about when it comes to their novels: what is the inciting incident of your main plot?
(For those who aren't familiar with the terminology, the inciting incident is the event that kicks the story into action, causing the protagonist(s) to react to it. The main qualifier for an inciting incident is that it provokes change - if a protagonist's life is not changed by it, it is not an inciting incident.)
Re:Apotheosis actually has two interrelated inciting incidents. The first is The Destroyer getting bored in his story and leaving after seeing somebody travel between the worlds. This sets him on a course that will lead him into Atria Silversword's world, see him steal a power source, and cause Atria to fall into the real world, in turn setting off the hunt for the orb.
The second, however, is Princess Stellaria falling out of her story world into the real one, causing her to fall in love, make a new life for herself, and travel to Japan to try to meet her creator - however, it's seeing her transit into the real world that inspires The Destroyer to leave his story.
So, that's my novel - what about everybody else's?
