Novels that use soundcloud?

I have used this feature for both of my episodes...

It is almost like the background music used in most episodes of webtoon originals...

i would only use soundcloud on rare occasions such one chapter I used for a fight scene and the other time was for a touching moment between two characters.

I like to put it in--just for ambiance, really. I think most people have it disabled for autoplay (or at least I hope they do so I don't surprise them with a really loud one) and may not notice, but I have heard other authors say people like it. None of my readers have mentioned an opinion on it yet--but it can't hurt. that, and I like music.

It is not a popular feature among readers. I've asked about this in feedback exchanges. All but one reader used the apps (which have no Soundcloud feature) or else keep their computers silenced by default to eliminate distractions.

Regardless, it's a tool available to me, and thus I use it extensively. I prefer instrumental tracks to set or enhance a mood. Sound effects (like a busy tavern or rain) might be great also. I hope to eventually make audio book versions of some stories which include all the above plus narration. If I can get that done, I'll upload the tracks to Soundcloud and link them, this creating a read-along experience.

It all depends on the song!

It's a bit of a gamble, since someone might dislike a song and hence dislike the comic/novel just because of the song, and vice versa.

But I read a novel written by @ratscout where she uses music in every chapter and I thoroughly enjoy it. And in case I don't, I just turn the song off.

I personally don't like using music that isn't created just for the novel, but I have no problems with people that do. On the contrary.

soundcloud only works on desktop so if you want to listen to music on mobile you would have to use the mobile web browser

What a hassle
Anyway it might not work for me because there sometimes are multiple scenes per chapter that cannot fit the mood in one piece.

Like what a few people here have said, I used the feature for almost every chapter in Shackles to set the atmosphere since it takes place in ancient China.

In other cases, I have a specific scene that would do well with atmospheric music!

(Some readers have loved it so far! Personally, as a reader, if I don't want the music, I'll just turn autoplay off. So either way, it shouldn't affect reading experience.)

I use it in a few of my chapters, but over all, it is hard to keep up with doing and extra work for the most part.

I really like hearing the music that possibly goes with the chapter when I read so I try to implement it sometimes

When done right, music adds to the episode and makes the impact fourfold.

1) The best example would be "Devil's Triangle" by @ivanskilling

There are just two episodes with music here but dang, they're both spine tingling!

2) I second @Fuzed

I love the use of music in "Inheritance" by @ratscout.
You should check out her taste, it's so good!

I used it for the firsrt time on my latest chapter, because I thought it fit the tone and I have seen it on other works.

It really depends, if it's a well known songs/artist it could be easear to connect, but if it is the opposite the readers could discover something new that they like. Sometimes it could be off putting, but you can always turn it off.

I use Soundcloud in my book as well, I'm still trying to get the hang of it as (for me at least) you need to know the specific name of the artist/song you're thinking of to even have a prayer of finding the song you're thinking of. Nonetheless though, it's a great feature, it can really set the tone when reading!
