Hey! tiny little question, but I haven't found this anywhere so...

Some users have a red sign with a number next to their icons, like this:

What does that number mean?

Means they've posted something new on their profile page. Creators in the support program have this so supporters know to check their profiles.

I thought it meant the creator had other webcomics aside the one you were visiting. Thanks, CyndiFoster!

I just recently found this out while going through the feedback/suggestion center. Haha. I'm waiting for Tapastic to give me the option to notify supporters directly in their notification inbox, though.

If you post something only for supporters, they'll get a notification - what I don't know is if they get notifications for wall posts that aren't for supporters only.

Also, does that number show all of their wall posts, or only the ones the user hasn't read?

Ah I was wondering if they'll actually get a notification (i thought it only worked for locked eps)...thats good to know, though.

Also it might just be unread wall posts.

Edit: As a side note, I wish it was possible to pin a wall post so that a particular post will stay on top of the others, similar to Twitter or something.

Currently, the red counter increases for normal posts (so fans can see if you posted something new or not, without visiting your page necessarily), and notifications are sent out to supporters' Activity feed for supporter-only posts. As @raintowns mentioned, we're planning on adding an option to notify all subscribers when you post something on your wall, too (similar to marking it as "supporter-only" or "private message"... there will be a "notify subscribers" option). That should make it easier to communicate with your readers vs. posting a non-comic episode, using the description, etc.
