Writing sound effects in comics feels really awkward to me for some reason. I need to write Darth Vader breathing sounds into a comic, but I have no idea how I would write that as a sound effect.

KtrrrRRrr ... Chooo.... KtrrrRRrr... Chooo
(inhale) ... (exhale sounds)

or

Hwooooooo Haaaa....Hwooooooo Haaaa

MOHH PEHH

Ktchhhhhh Fwhooooooh

I always say "Krroooohhh.... Paaaahhh..." whenever I mimic Darth Vader 'cause that's what I always hear.

That sounds like how I snore.

I hear Darth Vader breath as: Kriisshhhh...... Whoorrreeeee.....

I always thought it was "Poooohh Haaaahh"
And as for a normal person's breathing, "Huuuuuh heehhh"

You need 1 letter.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

HHHHHHHHHhhhhh

hhh...

haha yeah i was gunna say to H it up too. maybe throw some As or Us in there if ya feel like it

Also I'm glad I'm not in public, because I've been trying to sound out each of these replies.

Ja usually for breathing noises your base letter is h. Different letters can be added to the h to make different sounds,

HHHHHhhhk

HEEHH

HFFFFF

HHHHU

FFFFFH

HHHHCH

HHHHSSS

Or something like that.

-- puff -- puff -- puff --

Tapastic wants me to be more descriptive, so

-- puff --

A Darth Vader sound might be something like, "Krissshhhh Hhhwoooo."

In my comic we have a lot of running so having people huff and puff as though they're out of breath reads a little different based on the character. One character, say a larger dude, may have to spend more energy so his breathing would be "huff huff wheeeze huff" vs, a lighter character might be "haff haff huff haff."

Your mileage may vary. :3

Maybe "Kshhhhhhh"
I wish there was an online dictionary for onomatopoeia. This has always been one of my own major problems and google just doesn't cut it. Because of my heavy manga reading in highschool, some of my sound effects lean on the mangaka side of sounds? It turned out to be super noticeable to readers, and I struggle with creating sounds that readers will understand.
