OSTs! Who are your favourite composers?

Music is great, isn't it? They can really add to the mood.

What are your favourite OSTs? Be they from an anime, a game or a movie - recommend me (and others) some good music to listen to while drawing!

I really enjoy Hiroyuki Sawano's Gundam Unicorn OST. The music in this is godly, seriously. Another composer I like is Shoji Meguro and I honestly cannot wait for his music in Persona 5.

Motoi Sakuraba isn't that bad but I think his stuff kinda sounds too similar at times.

Austin Wintory's OST to Journey is a work of absolute art, is what it is.

I also really like Joe Hisashi's scores to Ghibli-movies. There's something dream-like and light in his composing that really appeals to me.

Oohh, Yoko Kanno also worked on Terror in Resonance, right? Some of the tracks there are good too! Von and Bless especially, hahhahaha ; - ;

Hiroki Kikuta's work is awesome, but might be hard to track down -- particularly the Soukaigi OST, which is old and obscure.

I'm a Nobuo Uematsu baby. As in, everything Final Fantasy (mostly modern).

I'm also a fan of Kumi Tanioka (most notably, her work for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, very beautiful and traditional type music), Motoi Sakuraba (Tales of Symphonia's OST here), Koji Kondo (almost everything Nintendo before he stepped down, although I'm mostly a fan of his Legend of Zelda work), Kazumi Totaka (Animal Crossing and Mario Paint, he's responsible for the Totaka's Song easter egg) and Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts is her biggie with this). Oh yeah, and Koh Ohtani, who's responsible for the beautiful music from Shadow of the Colossus. And just for laughs, Crush 40 lol Nostalgia up the rear with that one.

So of course I love a lot of video game composers. Outside of video games, I love Clint Mansell (he's the guy responsible for the dark Requiem for a Dream movie soundtrack), and Serj Tankian, whom some might remember being the original lyricist and vocalist for System of a Down; he's also worked in orchestration, and composed his own symphony album called Orca.

Toshio Masuda and his work on Mushishi. Absolutely love the haunting and melancholy sounds of some of the pieces.

Also Yasunori Mitsuda and his work on Chrono Cross. I'll never get tired of listening to that soundtrack.

And then I love Koji Kondo and the Zelda music, Nobou Uematsu, Motoi Sakuraba (Tales Series/Baten Kaitos) and Vincent Diamante (Flower). Just plain love it.

For something epic I always put on Two Steps from Hell albums. Not exactly ost but close (and grand) enough.

A few years ago I would listen to the LOTR osts all the time. I'm not really into anime ost with some bizarre exceptions like Darker than Black and Ergo Proxy. I'm guessing just because I loved those shows so much.

I LOVE love love Kajiura Yuki. She composed the OST for Pandora Hearts, Puella Magi Madoka Magika, SAO, .hack//sign. She's legendary.
I really enjoy the Ao no Exorcist OST as well (by Hiroyuki Sawano. Pretty sure he's been mentioned a few times already ^.^).
The Metal Gear Solid 4 soundtrack is also really nice. It was composed by a whole bunch of people.
One of the strangest OSTs I enjoyed is the Gun x Sword soundtrack. It's a little campy, but for some reason whenever I listen to I'm able to be really productive. It's ~*~Magic~. So I try not to abuse it's productivity-inducing powers lol.

oh my daaaaaays anything by alexandre desplat! he did mr magoriums wonder emporium, one of the deathly hallows movies, rise of the guardians, and (my favourite) fantastic mr fox! his soundtracks are always so magical and full of life.

the soundtrack to the movie divergent is really good, probably the only good thing about the movie besides the aesthetic. really, that movie was crap, but the ost banged.

the tv show pushing daisies has a brilliant ost, and i can now identify most tracks by name when i watch it. it really adds to the magical and quirky nature of the show.

spirited away also has a brilliant ost, ghibli movies always do.

OST from Thomas is Alone was my first time buying a soundtrack from a game. David Housden made an amazing synthetic yet human soundtrack that fit with the theme of the game.

Also, OST from To The Moon. I don't know who wrote it, but I remember drawing for several hours straight listening to that album on repeat. It's serious must-listen music for drawing.

Lastly, OST from Bravely Default. It's by Revo, I think? Sometimes I just leave my 3DS open to listen to the soundtrack.

Jeremy Soule's "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" soundtrack. The 4-discs one. It's amazing.
Another composer I love is Hans Zimmer, and Harry Gregson-Williams (Metal Gear Solid 3 OST is great).
