You hit it on the head with the educator and tutorial aspect of it. That's mostly how I can see this working. And, based on looking at the site myself, that's what I feel Pixton is more geared towards. It's less about trying to make profit for yourself and more about making something that is educational and beneficial to others in that aspect.
But I think that's where it would be cut off. Because Pixton has a certain design to it. It has a certain art style. And if multiple people are using it, it can sorta take charm away from a story. So even if someone has an amazing story-line, they might not be able to stand out if they're using the same program others are using for their work. It would end up falling under the line of
"Oh, this creator is using THAT program that A LOT of people are using. Why bother?"
Which is something I definitely wouldn't want for any creator.
I love the site because it makes comics easy for kids and teachers and whatnot. But it's not really something you'd want to use as a comic for Tapas or a comic you're planning to make bank/exposure on.
