I mostly use MS Word, but before that I was insistent in using a program called AppleWorks. It was an Apple version of Office - they had a paint function too. When Office 06 came out our teachers made us switch over to it, but I remember stubbornly still writing essays in AppleWorks until seventh grade.

I've tried using Celtx, and didn't mind it but it's too logical. I find logic to be stifling when I'm trying to create. I stick to a good old sketchbook which goes everywhere with me.

Scrivener. I sometimes write stuff out of sync, and I use Scrivener to help me to piece it together.

I use google docs most of the time because of how it automatically syncs to my phone and computers, but I actually prefer to write in the shitty notepad app in MS10. It just keeps everything simple and helps me to not get distracted. I don't like to use anything "fancy" otherwise I spend ages playing around with fonts and formats instead of actually writing.

I mostly use scrivener. Its really a good program for writing.

The other program that I use is ywriter, microsoft word, one note(for note taking).

And of course, don't forget notebook! Notebook is one of the best tool. Have an idea, just jot them down in your notebook for future use

I like using docs because of the auto save and sync. I often write and edit at night when I'm supposed to be sleeping on my phone, so. . I also love some of the fonts they have, specifically CG Times. The folder system is great and easy to organize and I also use Backup and Sync for my art files. Everything related to my comic is saved in drive which is convenient.

I get some good use out of Evernote both as a way to organize my notes in a sort of wiki-ish fashion as well as when I need to jott down script stuff. And I like being able to update things really quick while on my phone that I can access later from my PC. It's probably not the only app that does that stuff, but it's the one I ended up using.

I have a little notebook I bring around with me. Whenever something comes to mind I make a quick mention of it, maybe add a sketch to help solidify the idea I wrote. It's not the most organized method out there but there's just something about writing on pen and paper that feels great!

Google Docs 100%, supported by Grammarly and grammar control in Word for in-depth edits.
I find it so much easier because I can work from all my devices when it is stored in Google Docs.

Definitely Google Docs. It autosaves, which is a huge help since my PC occasionally crashes and my neighborhood also has the occasional power outages. It can also sync across multiple devices, which is helpful for when I'm commuting and I have some story ideas to type on my phone. All in all, it's convenient and really easy to use.

OpenOffice Writer

like Word but ***king better. It has a way easier UI for me to utilize along with adjustment of screen paper color vs coloring the paper or anything like that. It's super easy to adjust the page as much as I need to, whereas Word's changed UI is a nightmare to find anything - stuff still exists, but it's hard to find things like how to access the stupid Font-Superscript option just.. URGH. Or page numbers or footnotes - soooo much easier in OpenOffice Writer.

Also I loathe google docs. It's.... fine... Just lags loading, has a cap, and messes with all of my formats soooo much @_@ Just drives me crazy.
If you want to just sit and write and not have any other options - "zenwriter" is fantastic tool!

I'm also using Scrivener for the actual writing and Grammarly to check for some of the stupid mistakes that I overlook in the initial edit.

Always preferred Google Docs since I can write anywhere if need be and it's pretty good with saving stuff between devices (like sometimes I'll write on my phone and other times I will write on my laptop). Furthermore, since I don't need to worry much about formatting besides the basic things, it works well on that front too.

Google Docs for comic outlines. Mostly because the outline feature is a godsend - my outlines get VERY long and can be more tedious to scroll down to find the episode I need to work on a script for, but also for the reasons others have stated - it autosaves, and it's online so you can access it anywhere.
