Poor and Old Fashioned

I was interested in starting a comic on Tapastic but have a minor problem, I really can't get a drawing tablet due to financial difficulties but I can do paper and pencil drawings that I can upload via printer (thank you local library). So my real question is possible to do a web comic on Tapastic that isn't digital but done with the good old pen and paper?

Absolutely! Just be sure to get a high quality scan and touch up in photoshop or other similar program if needed!

Dodia Arniou is one of my favorite traditional comics and it's absolutely beautiful (careful there's some gore later on).

Fufufufu, of course it is possible, go for it. Remember that most manga and Marvel/DC comics are (were) done with the "good old pen and paper".

You don't really need an expensive scanner to get decent results. I used to use this Canon brand, which isn't super expensive, before switching to one that can scan larger paper. As far as touch up programs, from experience I can't suggest any cheap, good ones. I use Photoshop CS2, but I got it through less than admirable means.

The thing to careful about is most of the time, scanned pages need to be color corrected. There are free digital programs out there, like GIMP which can help aid with that.

When I was younger, I didn't really have any fancy programs. So I drew my stuff by hand and colored and edited it in MS Paint.

I do good old paper, ink and marker for my comics. It is a lot of fun to make comics traditionally.

Go for it c: it is possible, my 6,75 is a pen+paper as well (only adding text digitaly because my handwriting looks like squished spiders).

I just went digital in the latter part of last year; prior to that, I still worked traditional. Me going digital doesnt mean I'm done with the traditional method.

All you need to do is pencil/ink/letter your art, then scan it for the computer and use a program to color it.

Yes, it is.
I don't use a tablet either - mainly because mine is truly ancient (it doesn't even have compatible drivers for pen pressure anymore) and pen is super big and pretty heavy. So I use mouse instead.

If you need some software, I can recommend looking for free analogues of Photoshop/Corel painter.
Krita, for example, is great. I didn't like SAI but a lot of people say that it's good. GIMP and Fire Alpaca are also a thing.

My comic Naor is done mostly traditionally. I use pen and paper for the initial inking. Screentones I do traditionally as well sometimes, it depends on the panel. I do as much as I can by hand though! It sure takes forever though working by yourself. My text I always do on the computer though. I'm not very good at writing by hand. lol

Definitely possible. Even though I have a tablet, Mannen Kazoku is intentionally drawn traditionally simply because it features fountain pens. (lol I wouldn't be able to feature them properly without writing and drawing samples) The only thing I do digitally with it is cropping, resizing, and cleaning.

My comic POW! Right int he Nostalgia is drawn without a tablet. I just do the good ol' pencil, pen, and paper method on my pages, scan them in, color them, and done!

Maybe at some point I'll go digital, but that'll have to be after I manage to save up some money for a tablet.

There are a lot of good traditional comics on Tapastic so go for it! I'd love to see your comic one day.

As long as you put enough heart and effort into your work who really cares. I don't use a tablet either, but that's mostly because it doesn't feel right to me (and price). I've been drawing pen and paper for more than ten years and I'm just accustomed to it. I only use the computer to add dialogue and color these days for JODDAS VAPD
