Well, not so much "there's no point if they're not reading it," though I do feel that way as well!
I just wanted to point out that, the way Tapas works, if you have subs that aren't reading your comic, that can actually keep your comic from making it onto the trending list -- that is, it's actually HARDER for people to find your comic if you have a bunch of subs that aren't reading! So encouraging folks to check out your stuff is great! But sub 4 sub might hurt you in the long run.
But that said, your experience with subs is pretty common! Webtoon has a lot more readers than Tapas does, so it's natural to get somewhat larger numbers if there's an audience for the kind of stuff you do. You're very unlikely to get over 1000 subs all at once like that over here -- obv it varies a lot when you're starting out, but 45 in the first month is pretty good progress!!
