In the beginning, all that existed was void. From within this vast, endless chaos, was born a Goddess. Alone, she ponded why she was born, what her purpose was. Until finally, she realized, she was the creator. With her purpose answered she began to understand and embrace her powers. Wielding her great strength, she molded the void. When she was done, lush green earth was born. Upon the world, she brought to life companions to help ease her solitude. Thousands of different animals frolicking and playing. As she gazed upon her creation she felt longing. She too wanted to play with the doe and swim with the fish. However, as if sensing her great power, the animals feared her and once again the goddess was plunged into the darkness of solitude.
With one final call for help, despite the risk, the Goddess ventured farther into the void than she had ever gone before. For years she drifted aimlessly, uncertain of what she was looking for. but one day the woman finally returned, twelve young children, walking by her side. One-half of the children baring wings and the other half horns, each of varying number.
As the children grew so did their powers, and as did their rivalry. Every day they would argue, unable to every pick a clear winner. The only thing they truly agreed on was that when their mother had returned from the void the only bit of sanity she had retained was left behind. They weren't the only ones to notice either. The primitive humans not only feared their creator. They resented her. Since returning from the void, the previously loving mother who had cradled the world to her chest now ravaged her creation. Natural disasters ripped through the world every day. Those not taken by the storms were strangled by famine.
