Lots of really good responses so far on this thread! Interesting to see how many have found other venues to use when one platform fails. Still a pity that there isn't a go-to place that everyone knows of. As an artist and a student of art it seems to be an eternal struggle with art to deal with censorship. It really limits the creativity but luckily artists seem to always find a way to express themselves in some place or another.

Honestly I just think it's such a shame and a waste of good resources that the internet, which was supposed to be the free haven for all, ended up getting so heavily monitored and censored. And not even in a good way that ensures the safety of people but only to control what people produce.

This is pretty much what I've been doing recently. My friends at least get to see what I draw, even if I don't post my NSFW work online. They get to see exclusive art and I get feedback from them, so it's a win win really.

Actually while they say that I've had numerous artists who did get banned, and you're hidden from the search function which sort of defeats the point, tbh. No one can discover you n just come across your junk.

shrug I know plenty of very NSFW artists on Patreon. Maybe they did something against the ToS?

Spoiler'd for possible graphic language:

Summary

While we allow nudity and for creators to push the boundaries of art, we also have guidelines against funding pornography on patreon. In our community guidelines: We define pornographic material as real people engaging in sexual acts such as masturbation or sexual intercourse on camera.

That ToS specifies it involves real people. However, they can still ban people even if it's not specified, or change the policy like Tumblr did in a short amount of time.

By that logic, then it isn't really safe to post anywhere since any site at any time could suddenly change their ToS and/or go on a purge.

And then we just circle back to the OP's post.

:joy::joy::joy: that's their business. the day they tell me to take down my boys doing dirty stuff is the day I will officially use them only as a merchant account because at the end of the day, thats all they are to me. I host most of my work with nudity in my own personal hosting and direct my readers there once they pledge.

I didn’t change anything for Tapas when it came to my NSFW novel. I didn’t originally write it to child it down.
I originally came here because it seemed like a good place to post mature work to.
I just really want a mature novel environment I can post my work to, but it seems difficult to find any without your own website.
I intend to continue my comics to be NSFW. I’ll censor for this site using angles, etc, but I’ll probably end up using the patreon I have for all the good bits. I just wish I didn’t have to charge.

If you want somewhere that your webcomics can go, try The Duck24. It's more community focused than Tapas, I find, the file upload limit is bigger, and the community is more active. It's also still creator-owned rather than a big corporation if that's a concern for you. They're vanishingly unlikely to change their ToS about NSFW as the creator runs an adult comic on the thing.

I post some of my NSFW pieces on Newgrounds, which I've stopped visiting because I hate the community. The interface isn't... bad... they just have some strange ideas about how to manage it. Twitter isn't bad, but I have a side account for it just in case it gets shut down.

Yeah, that's essencially what every site establishes in their ToS, whatever the business is about.

It's a basic.

The same you would do in their place -shrugs-

Never get comfortable, business are not your friends, but your tools.

How about a folder in Drive or any other archive site?

Just an idea, haven't tried by now.

I have seen someone use google drive! I completely forgot!
Thanks for the suggestion or I wouldn’t have been reminded.

Google's been known to shut down adult works (like, locking your whole account) - that's mostly in regards to sex workers etc but make sure to use an alt just in case!

Haven't heard anything about Google shutting down NSFW creators, but it's always worth being cautious just in case. It's a good idea though, I might borrow it...

One thing is being cautious and aware that any platform can put your stuff down whenever they decide and without giving reasons.

And other is let fear take over and hide as if you were doing something bad.

Hide would only give them the reason and the monopoly of NSFW content.

Same as the LGBT community, give it visibility, spread awareness, let readers learn that they aren't bad because of liking NSFW art.

People fear what they are not familiar with.

Breasts are just breasts. Draw them on girls, guys, girls with the guys thing down there. Yup, it's art.

I like to believe im safe from the potential nsfw purge of the entire internet cause at most I make dirty jokes or artist nudes...

...Reality is the only things that will exist on the internet if the apocalypse happens is just elsa and spiderman kid grooming videos. You know that'll happen, don't you lie.

Pixiv also recentlyish came out with a "fanbox" of sorts where you can pay to access an artist's stuff they've limited similar to Patreon. But now it's not a seperate site like Patreon is. Some mangaka are already taking advantage of it. And they're posting some neat little shorts and exclusive comics that they didn't want to share on their twitter.

It's available only for Japanese artists for now, unless they made an update
