OK, time for another review!

Space Pirate by @thecrystalrook:

• I really appreciate the effort you're putting into all your action scenes; you can really tell how much work is going into it, so keep working hard on that!!
  If you want to elevate your action scenes a bit more, I'd suggest to play around with perspective and dynamic camera angles a bit more as you continue making more pages; I'm sure it'll give those scenes some extra flair!
• On the more critical side, I found that some of the panel flow was a bit difficult to follow, especially during action scenes where the panels were arranged as 4 similarly-sized squares together in one larger square.
  Perhaps playing with some gutters and spacing between the panels will help, along with some more variety in the panel shapes themselves?
• The humor works really well and doesn't detract at all from what's happening, so kudos to you for that! At least for me, I think most of the little japes got a chuckle out of me. They were a nice touch.

I will leave here my comic. Read and review only if it interests you and you find it enjoyable. I always appreciate critiques, but do your best or what you are in the mood to do, and again, only if you feel like it!

My story is about a future unrecognizable dying Earth with mysterious characters that are almost never what they seem at first sight. It contains mild violence, but it is more about the mystery of the setting and uncovering the deep ancient lore hidden within hints and metanarrative text. It also has some folk songs and poems here and there. I like to think about it as a game between comic and reader.

awesome, thanks for the feedback! I definitely need to work on paneling a little bit. Really glad you got a kick out of the humor! Jokes and gags are one of the things I try my hardest on to work into the flow of the story.

Hi I just want to share with u mine because i need more audience. This series Is about a boy who is found frozen in ice and is found out to be from another world. He gets his powers and memories sealed by a anti-world crystal by a High elves class Scientist from Palomar named Agaron and A human General of the DAC(Deathspawn Annihilation Corp.) named Hijka Blade because he was said to be too dangerous. Having no memories the boy sets off into the city of Kyoto.

Next up is Mirror Monster by @rosiegh0st:

• I believe I mentioned this last time, but your characters continue to be very expressive and bring your pages to life. Personally, I find strong expressions rather difficult to pull off, so you're doing great!
• You've been doing a great job of using your environments to further the storytelling! They're better and better every time, so keep it up!
• I found the pacing in the two most recent chapters quite good. I also wanted to comment on how I feel like your speech bubbles do a good job in helping direct the flow of the panels; even when the panels on their own might not indicate reading order, your speech bubbles do a good job of directing the reader's eye.

And then That Beautiful Melody by @diestreve319:

• I really like how much you can tell that you really put a lot of work and heart into making your story; it will be exciting to see you continue to put that enthusiasm into future projects!
• Despite its relatively short length, I appreciate the continuity in her reactions that really adds to some of the scenes.
• The ending was interesting in how it subverted what I would typically expect from this sort of story! I thought it was a nice touch that helps set your comic apart from others.

And finally for this batch, Open Flame by @CrystallikeICE:

• So far, the movement throughout the panels flows pretty well for starters! Keep it up in the future pages; it can only keep getting better!
• The story begins on a humorous note and establishes the main character rather than the plot; if you're going for a more character-focused story, then this is good! I feel like, so far, the reader can develop a pretty good idea what sort of person your protagonist is.
• It was commented on, but the story has a rather of a slow start; it might be difficult to draw in new readers at this point because there is little established plot at this point, but hopefully that will be less of a concern as you progress.

Keep up the great work you three, and I'm sure your comics will only keep getting better and better as you work hard and gain even more experience!

I'd be happy to have a critical review of my comic that is pretty new here on Tapas, but I've been posting on Tumblr and Twitter for a few years now. It's called Dungeon Delves, and it is a short form comic (sometimes a 1 panel cartoon) about tabletop roleplaying games - specifically the parts I enjoy, some scenes from games I've played in that I found entertaining, and poking fun at myself and certain aspects of the hobby. I understand obviously that this is quite a niche readership, and not what a lot of people come to Tapas for. However I wanted to start posting here because the website is made for comics, so presents them in a more readable way than either Twitter or Tumblr. My aim is to be light, funny, and maintain a simple style. Even if you know nothing about TTRPGs, I still think it would be good to get some insight into what I could do better, or make my work more accessible.

My comic: Members of a conspiracy in an island country are being hunted down and questioned, a group of mercenaries are shipped into to protect them and catch the man responsible.

I'm happy to take a critical review. My comic is pretty young and the general consensus thus far is "Looks cool, but i don't have a clue what's going on".
Which is intentional, and continues for several more updates. It my have lost me some potential subs ahah

this is Maximum Chaos is about a newly wed couple (Marc and April) thought they were destined to live a simple life. Until they get entangled with an obsessive officer's plot for revenge against the biggest crime syndicate in all of Famousland (a Hollywood-esque inspired fantasy world). Little do they know its a more complicated than his plot for revenge, their world is in danger and its up to Marc and April to bring the people together to help them save it!

I'd like a review/critique:
there is a lot of uploads for my comic, its 20 (soon to be 21 chapters in and still in the first arc) i understand if you can't read it all. I'd like a review to understand how people are receiving what I'm making. I really appreciate if you get to read my comic, this story is my passion i know its not perfect, but i want to learn to making it stronger and better as i continue to work on this story thank you.

Chocoleta Jonovich, a brilliant girl raised and shaped in a terrible place

Chocoleta has given up after the incident of her beating up her professor, and killing the headmaster in her university after she lost control of her emotions. Her sister, Jolly, inspires her to live again, and pushes through a toxic environment to find happiness. She also happens to be a psychic, and the city is riddled with other people with powers like her.

This went through plenty of phases. Back when it was hosted on Comic Fury, it was a completely different comic. After many improvements and changes, it took 3 years to get to this.

I know the feeling and I just want to let you know you are not alone in this. We all go through rough points in our lives but as long as we support each other, we can get through it together. The lives we live | Tapas

My comic is Crime/mystery. There are no sexual themes. There is gore but it's not so crazy that it happens each update. The comic centers around five teenagers: Lauris, Leo, Natalie, Rayvis and Rico. It's about their friendship and the struggles that they face. There is some crime solving too.

I'd be happy with praise and critique ^^

Sorry for the dip in activity! I read through a couple more, so here are some more reviews!

Bardsong by @rajillustration:

• Color is something that I am always drawn to, and I love your use of color throughout the pages. Everything is so harmonious to me, and yet, you don't need to rely on dull colors to keep everything cohesive.
• As far as pacing is concerned, nothing felt particularly jarring for me upon my first read through? I thought everything flowed pretty well and, while you gave enough time so things don't feel rushed, I also don't feel like there were any points at which I felt that there was nothing worthwhile happening.
  Admittedly, I don't read many vertical scrolling comics, but my main complaint with them tends to be how they use too much empty space and it feels like pointless scrolling; I didn't feel that at all from your comic. Your pacing kept my attention the entire time I was reading.
• While it's not complete so far so I can't comment on the message overall, the theme in the comic is something I'm sure many of us creators can relate to; his frustrations are something that hit very close to home and make me more invested in his struggles.

Litanies to Stars and Other Stories by @Ramonkey:

• First of all, I think the comic has a very interesting premise and is quite refreshingly different from other comics I've read lately; it's surreal, but rather than being offputting, I find it more interesting. I also really enjoy the use of the author's comments to further enliven the lore and the story.
• You do a great job of telling the story with the visuals just as much as you might tell the story with words; the backgrounds tell so much of the story and make paying attention all the more worthwhile--especially since there's something interesting to pay attention to beyond just the immediate actions.
• I think my only critique might be on your choice in font and the dialogue boxes; I think this improves in further pages, but in the earlier pages I noticed that some of the boxes seem a little too tight for the words within them and don't give the words enough space to "breathe". I think the font was also just a tad inorganic and too crisp, so in my opinion, it clashes a little bit with your art style. This is just something to consider, though!

Keep up the great work, all of you, and I hope to get to a few more of your comics soon!

@teasidesketches You doing all these reviews for everyone's comic is truly praiseworthy in my opinion. Even if they may be more casual reviews as you said, it's still so cool that you're doing this to help encourage other creators. I hope that you're doing much better now since starting this thread and that things will continue to be better for you. I'd post my comic here too for you to review, but it seems like you have a lot going on at the moments in regards to comic reviews and I don't want to possibly overwhelm your further. Maybe another time.

But yes, take care of yourself, I hope you're doing much better, and thank you for your work here! It's truly admirable.

Thank you very much, really. I truly appreciate your review and the time you took to read me. I would like to address your critique just by saying that you are absolutely right about it. I've already had three serious reviews in which that font and lettering is critiqued and what can I say but "I am sorry not to have address this issue until now"... I was thinking that coming back to redo things is a cycle without end.... But I will make it my priority for the next update.
