Hello all, Saint here with another promotion thread. For this thread, promote your story alongside the themes present within.

For example.

My novel, "Ex-MACHINA", plays on the themes of:
servitude and inequality (the Androids/ Auto Droids)

corruption (the robotics company that created the Auto Droids, Tomaru Corp., and Shikos Police force) \

traumas, and their effects on an individual (Anna and the verbal, physical, and sexual abuse she faced by her father, Beatrice's guilt, and her disdain towards Auto Droids due to her father being killed by one when she was a child, and Jay who suffers from service-related PTSD and guilt for not being there for Beatrice's father),
and

poor mental condition (pretty much the entire main cast),

what it means to be human (again, the Auto Droids, Kyle, and the yet to be fully revealed antagonist of the first arc)

And the classic "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

With this story and the themes I am exploring with it I aim to tell a powerful and entertaining story where the readers follow a cast of suffering characters and how their experiences shape the people they become through the course of the story and the roads that they take in an effort to change the world around them in hopes of creating a better life for themselves. Amongst other things.

My illustrated novel:
Some of the illustrations in the story.

Donnie The Fighting Psychopath explores quite a few themes, expecially as of the latest episode.

Psychopothy: Definately the main thing it explores is the decent of a phsychopath, and how and why they do what they do.

In-equality: The most recent episode in particular, explores the themes of pretty much all kinds of inequality throughout human history.

Loyalty to a single person: Combined with the previous, it explores the theme of being legitimately loyal to a dictator, and how that loyalty can effect people. (Particularly kids)

Age I- Age of Darkness explores a bunch of themes and more will be dealt with as the story develops.

Sacrifice: One of the themes present, especially in the later parts of the story is that of sacrifice. The main idea is that you can't gain anything without first sacrificing something.

Self-growth: The characters in Age I- Age of Darkness will be going through a lot of experiences and they will change a lot throughout their journey.

Heroism: The story will also delve deeper on the concept of heroism. What does it mean to be a hero? Do good and evil even exist?

Death: Misery and death are also some of the main focuses of the story. The world is full of misery and pain and it's up to us to make it a better place.

Genre: Action, Fantasy, Adventure, Drama.

Synopsis: In an age where darkness threatens humanity, a terrible accident forever changes the lives of the two brothers Frederick and Nigel. After three long years, they are met by a strange yet eccentric individual who seems to know a lot about their past. Follow the adventures of Frederick and Nigel in their quest to defeat the evil and rescue their loved ones.

There are sort of two levels to my story, I guess. On a surface, genre level, it's about adventure, and rising from a nobody to being a legend.

But below the surface, Renegade Legends is about:

  • Trauma leaves a long-term mark

  • Running from problems doesn't solve them

  • Revenge is so tempting... but doesn't solve problems either

  • Count the likely cost of your actions before you do them, because everything has consequences, and you have to be sure you can live with them

  • Healing is possible, even if it seems like you're too far gone

And the big, main one :

  • The story of who you are is ultimately written with your actions. You are more than where you started, the name you were born with, or other people's expectations of you.

Nixvir deals not so much with what it means to be human but what it means to merely be. That being said, it explores the blurring of the lines between animal and human, religious devotion and its disadvantages as well as the theme that a good king makes a good kingdom.

This is a really cool idea!
My novel, Nonconforming, explores many themes I care a lot about.

Soulmates: In this novel I explore what it means to be someone’s perfect match and if there really is “the one” at all. This theme is explored not only through the main couple, but side couples as well. I present what I believe is a healthy relationship based on shared interests, values, and goals.

Communication: I explore what good and bad communication looks like, in the context of relationships, friendships, family, and even people who are different from us. Throughout the novel, rival factions struggle to communicate their viewpoints and compromise, culminating in the major conflicts of the story.

Grief: A slight spoiler, people die in my novel, so one of the major themes is how death affects people. I explore the five stages of grief as it manifests differently in different character and look at how characters continue to impact the story even after their death. I also explore themes of revenge and forgiveness and how different cultures grieve.

Mental Health: I explore manifestations of anxiety and depression in a persistent and realistic way and how those conditions affect long-term relationships. To a lesser degree I explore about ASD, migraines, and ASPD.

Gender and Sexuality: This is primarily a coming of age story about an intersex MC who struggles to define who he is amidst the expectations of his friends and family. Nonconforming is about rejecting gender norms and roles in favor of individuality and freedom of expression.

Here’s my link if you want to check it out:

It’s been a while since I’ve promoted it on the forums, but I was so happy last night, when I peaked to #2 on the BL free-to-read list, I just felt like doing a little happy gig and sharing my good news with y’all.

Thanks for the interesting thread!

For Devil's Triangle, I have two main themes. The first theme is regarding parenting and how there is no single right solution to bringing up a child. The second theme is something that is repeated in my other novel, which is that like any tool, technology is a double-edged sword that should be used carefully.

In Shackles, the main theme is about balancing duty and responsibility with one's desires. There's also an underlying feminism theme due to its setting in ancient China.

Finally, Dark Bytes focuses on the same technology theme as Devil's Triangle but in far more detail - each story takes a certain technology (virtual reality, fake news, mass surveillance, cyborgs, AI, etc) and explores how it could affect humanity.

My novel "Blood? Suckers!" deals with

Anxiety and the feeling of being out of place, worthless and different from everyone else. Through Hiro's journey of becoming a human, he also finds it hard to find his place in the world as a human.

Friendship and interpersonal relationships. Being a vampire is a lonely existence, so now that Hiro is out of that life, he finds comfort in being with others. It isn't so easy though to adapt from being alone to being constantly around others, and he finds difficulty in trying to navigate these relationships.

Self-Reflection and that little voice inside your head that says things you don't mean, only to allow you to ruminate on those thoughts - leading to a never-ending chasm of doubt and regret of your actions. Fortunately for Hiro, this helps him become a better person.

and most of all, Blood? Suckers! deals with the concept of Ennui and the idea that we have to enjoy the little things, the little, almost mundane interactions that we have every day. It's important we keep our eyes on what we do have, and the people around us that need us.

Although this all sounds really heavy, somehow I have managed to weave these themes into a mostly comedic, slice of life novel about what it really means to be human.

A couple of themes in "Red Shift" are...

  • True love involves sharing pain (in reference to the two major pairings)
  • Sometimes both parties can be toxic/ there is no "right" vs. "wrong" (in reference to the two planets that are at war)
  • There will always be someone who will speak up against oppression even if nothing changes for a long time/The soul's strength can't always be extinguished in everyone (in reference to well... read the story hehehehe )

For "Project Burnout" I'm gonna try to explore:

Inequality: That there will always be a group to look down upon for whatever reason, whether it is justified or not

Actions have Consequences: Every action has a reaction, either positive, neutral, or negative is debatable

Subjective and Objective: The expression of thought and opinions on a topic. No one side is good while another is evil

Liability: Who is to blame

Responsibility: things can't be ignored and if looked at how is it to be treated

Aspect of War: The issues with war and why it continues

and many others that touch topics of violence, equality, punishment, and so forth.

So yeah if you wanna read a sci-fi story about a mission of traveling across a moon filled with genetic monsters, plants, and soldiers I do hope you enjoy it if you take a look.

Centris is a tale of social disparity, dealing with discrimination and trauma.

My comic includes:
Bizarre: There are a lot of strange things in their daily life.

self realization: Every characters will develop through time and realize what's important in their life.

Homosexual issue: It's not a romance kind of homo topic in this comic. It's more of a gays' and lesbians' obsession kind of story.

Magic and sci-fi: There are some magic and sci-fi elements in this comic. The time sets at 2024 so it's a story not far from present.

THE ROLLING STONE explores what its like finding meaning and purpose in life as well as other stuff like the unfairness of life

there are many themes to the Knights Chronicles , one big one is racism and religious zealots as seen with the heavens alliance pure hate to any chimeran or in general any who don't think like them, some ptsd and mental health themes with each of the main heroes coming to terms with the violence and death they all brought years ago , but the main themes for the story as a whole, as it will be more apparent in later chapters, is hope and the determination to stand up and fight for what is right even with the odds against you

Thanks for the tread!

Some of the themes that my comic Auster will deal with are:

Mental Health issues: Focusing mostly on Social anxiety, self-harm, depression, PTSD, and suicide but some others will probably be mentioned along the way.

Child trauma and child abuse: Most of the characters went through hell in their childhood.

Getting over your past or learning to survive in spite of it.

Superpowers and some fantasy/sci-fi elements: People develop abilities related to their trauma and suffering. Some of them can get to be pretty bizarre. And even though the story is set in our times there are some sci-fi and fantasy elements to it.

Although Silent Whispers is currently at its beginning phase, here are some of the themes it touched on so far:

Inequality & Perseverence - Life isn't always kind, sometimes it is cruel. So.. when conflict arises, how will you handle it? That may very well play a huge part in your potential 'ending'. After all, Perseverance is often the key to overcoming obstacles. Although it could seem endless at times, but it tends to be worth the hard work at the end

Loyalty & Family - Loyalty can be a double-edged sword, however... having a group of supportive individuals when you are in need of help might as well be. However, what if the opposite happens? What if your so-called 'family' ends up turning their backs on you? Then it could possibly cause you a very harsh awakening to reality.

Hope & Innocence - Your mindset, your hope can impact you greatly on how you see the situation and what you choose to do about it. In times of hardship, hope can act as limelight in the midst of darkness. As for innocence, it can vary, while some may reminisce the simpler times, back when the worse thing that could happen in life is when you failed a test. However, viewing the world through rose coloured lens can make you ignore the red flags in life and possibly cause you to make a decision you will regret later on.

What it means to be Human - The definition of being human, is it because of our inventions? Our evolution through time? Or is it due to something less materialistic, our emotions or our minds? The definition of being human is often something that can be grappled with and would most definitely be elaborated in the future chapters

And Most importantly, Self Discovery & Self Acceptance - Sometimes in life, we can get lost and lose ourselves with various influences or struggles in society. however, We can always learn to come to terms with who we are and begin our journey back home.

Interested? Here's the description below!

In this technologically advanced generation where we are continuously connected yet constantly isolated, the feeling of invisibility can be quite deafening as a result. Even so, when night falls, people from all walks of life gather at this particular place. A blissfully tranquil land where any memories can be found amongst countless levitating, multicoloured bubbles. Nevertheless, there was once a girl with an enchanted quill who stood in the fragile veil between these contrasting worlds... Determined to record and make known the symphonies of the countless travellers who have traversed the land. Who knows? Your symphony may be lying in wait amongst her collection...

Ooh. Ok. This one made me think about. Lol. But here we go!

The Last Goddess explores themes of:

  • self-discovery / what a person deserves
  • grief
  • relationship building
  • trust
  • perseverance

Tempest explores:

  • self-discovery / finding your place in the world
  • toxic relationships / abuse (particularly in a familial setting)
  • secrets / honesty
  • friendship

Not that far into my comic and can't promote what's not been written yet, but what the heck, I wanna discuss themes :'D

The main theme of each arc in bitwam1 is:

Arc 1 - People try to minmaxx and find exploits when playing games, but rarely apply that strategic mindset in real life.

Arc 2 - Manipulation and attention seeking. Guilt, responsibility and blame. How people can be genuinely hurt even when it's no-one's fault.

Arc 3 - Listen to the people around you, but it may not solve all your problems. Sometimes, you need to do what no-one else has done to find a way of life that suits you.

Arc 4 - Defending your boundaries, and manoeuvring yourself into a position where it's safe to let someone who's hurt you back into your life.

The themes behind "Lyza's Sandstorm": Siblinghood (Sister and brother dynamic), Survival in a very hostile world, Hope and Badassery.

Tales of Teleios is a story seeks to express some modern day human right issues in the setting of Ancient Greek alternative historical environment. Using the cringey mythical deities tropes, historical figures and some less popular ancient literature. The story explores multilayer meaning and might be executed poorly due to my own limitation in the command of English language.

The main theme covered is on Eugenics. That't the main reason why I use ancient Greek as a setting. The story mainly is about the idea of "well-breed" human, and the antagonists seeks to achieve god-like state by whatever method.

The story also covers several smaller topics which mainly surrounds the 4 main characters.
While I would like to let the readers to decipher them by themselves.
