Hey there!
So the LTR and RTL and vertical reader formats are chosen by the creator! If it's a manga then the user scrolls from RtL, comics are LtR and then webtoons are vertical. At the top of the chapter page there's a toggle that allocates the images into any of those formats that the reader wants to use, sometimes this may lead to some strange looking reading experience (such as if you put a webtoon series in LtR or RtL format). I accepted that that would look strange, but I tried to at least make it look as neat as I could while allowing any format to be available.
Zooming is very awkward to handle on mobile, I have custom zooming logic for LtR readers and RtL readers, and vertical formats allow normal webpage zooming functionalities. For desktop I added a small magnifying glass to hover over text/images that can be toggles by right-clicks on the image. I know it's not perfect, but I'm still trying to refine it, that's proven to be trickier UI work than I initially thought.
BL & GL are allowed, nudity is allowed, strange fetish content though can be removed at Inkstra's discretion typically if it's deemed unhealthy for the platform. Nothing outright illegal is allowed though. The main thing is that the individual chapters or the series (if a plurality of chapters are gory/sexual) need to be marked as age-restricted properly so that this content doesn't get mixed in with the non-adult catalog.
The invisible watermarking is something that I had on there, but I removed it since it was a bit finicky. I need to re-do it and make sure it works better. Basically it's piracy protection, I can scan images uploaded to piracy sites to see if the work was stolen, and who stole it.
Fanfiction is allowed, but if a DMCA request lands on my front porch I'm not in the best position to fight it, so keep it fair use please. I cannot promise that it would remain up though versus other types of content.
I have removed monetization for now since I'm working a career outside of Inkstra and I'm the sole owner/developer, I cannot give it the business needs that it requires for handling monetization. As to not make money off of other people's work I've even removed ads from the site entirely (I had adsense enabled at one point). In lieu of that I've made it possible for creators to add links to their socials that are on their profile and show up in various places, and links to KoFi and Patreon in particular create a 'Tip jar' that can be seen by readers if they choose to support creators personally.
Also I plan on adding webnovels hopefully by next month, I have created a 'social feed' system that was going to be the backbone that I leverage here for creating the webnovels, I just have to make modifications to it.
I think that addresses most of it, if I skipped anything or if you want to know any other information, feel free to reach out.
