Recommendation for new place to host comic and novel + added review?

[silacinnamon]

I'm trying out leaflet, it isn't focused on comics mainly but they have an interface for publishing series that I think works better than tumblr. I wanted something like that to host my pages somewhere outside a big comic platform, I'll probably try another tapas-like alternative too later.

There's a tag discovery system but I'm still figuring out how to use everything. I didn't find it very intuitive to set up my page for comics, but at least you don't need to know how to code and I found a tutorial on youtube.

I like that it's very easy to integrate with bluesky, they allow nsfw, and looks like there's monetisation/paywall options incoming. Idk what their stance is with AI tho.

Here's my page: https://silacomics.leaflet.pub/

Taking a look at comic fury again.

I still did not know how to navigate this site. Need some time to accustomed myself.

Your page is customizable, but you need to learn to do that if you're not familiar with it (I'm talking about myself ).

Thankfully have active forum and everyone seem helpful (plus the dev/owner is very active in the community). Setting up the page will be head pounding for me but I'll try to look around at the forum.

Since tapas going down, they have increased the scroll comic page limit form 15 to 25!

Apparently there's going to be some kind of website overhaul to improve looks or something. Exited to see how it turns out.

Hell yeah for lgbtqa!

Can confirm explicit nsfw is allowed, I did see d*ck and b*lls. There's no nsfw warning that i see when I go to the comic pages directly so minor beware! There seems to be a warning if you're on the series pages (?). Ngl this site is still kinda confusing (what does the alphabes mean???). Thanks for the comic examples claiborneart!

Unsure if there's a few section of your comic that need labeling but not completely r18 the whole thing need to be labeled as mature or not.

No AI.

For some reason comic pages load very slowly for me. Might just be my browser.

Seems like they're okay with fanworks.

Monetization via ads. All revenue seems to be yours? Probably? I'm not sure how you're supposed to set it up.

Seems to be a good place to move to. The site creation thing kinda discouraged me a bit (cause I'm helpless with these kinda stuff lol) but I might actually try to go there.

Going to slowing down on these platform checking since reading too much terms of service and testing kinda drain me (what a surprise!). Feel free to still recommended any kind of novel and comic web hosting since I'm going to check them slowly.

They have an option where you can generate a cover directly through them, which was a bit off-putting when I saw that... But you also had to have proof of ownership to migrate your story in (I had to email a screenshot of my Tapas creator dashboard). I like it so far, but it does seem slow as far as engagement goes... Rather reminds me of Wattpad in that sense. I would look into Pinya if you want something for both comics and novels, I've seen a lot of creators say it reminds them of Tapas in some ways. They also allow both forms of media, seem a bit stricter on AI generated content, and allow some NSFW (they have ratings for your work, and each chapter as General Audience, Teen, or Mature). When in doubt though, post it exclusively to Patreon and use a lightly censored version for whatever platform you publish on.

Made an edit including list of sites that has been recommended in the main post for easy redirect to the sites.

Main post

Went to email novelcult regarding their ai cover and how they spot ai writing

And this is the answer I got.

Hopefully the opt out for ai cover can come sooner and they really get good at deleting the ai writings.

[silverraven0]

Going to royal road to check the site

Yeah you'll see ai cover. At this point it became a normal occurrence in the Novel website...

Anyway went to click on one of them to see it and did get a warning for mature content but then...

What you mean bro.

Looking at their guidelines (not their tos), they allowed ai assisted content (editing, proofreading) and AI GENERATED CONTENT.

What the hell man. (This was written last because I just went to the guidelines after looking at their tos) Go here if you want to read the full thing

Fanfic is allowed but like tapas, it cannot be monetized.

Got a forum.

Heavy on Isekai, wuxia, xianxia, hunter and the like. Basically heavy on fantasy.

Nsfw is allowed, just can't be all smut.

Did not see any LGBTQA, bl or gl on their tag. It's safe to assume they're not allowed there.

Can get monetization. Unsure how this works. You also need to set up account on payment provider called tipalty to get your revenue.

According to their tos, if I read it correctly they can use your novel and use it as advertisment as they like.

They might or not might allow scraping of the novel data or something. As they said,

When reading their tos it somehow felt like it's just a lot of 'if anything happen we don't take any responsibility and you agreed to it', kinda, unlike most of the tos I've been reading. Idk just a feeling.

Seeing how royal road is, I honestly don't really want to go there.

Not gonna lie, I'd take that response with a grain of salt.

Tell me what LLM means without telling me what LLM is.

Also, I don't know why but I always get nauseous when I see a site littered with AI covers. I would never read on that website even if the works are written by people.

The real purpose of SynthID:

Basically to prevent the data from training the machine again and other similar models for that matter. Still doesn't tell you how the text can be detected safely without copying and pasting an entire novel to feed to their models.

Tldr: It's just another stupid AI detector.

[silverraven0]

Ngl I don't actually know how these things work. I'm just hoping they at lease do implemented the opt out of the ai cover thing and really did took out the ai writings that's been reported.

[ShidoDraws]

I doubt anyone would want to opt in to a feature they know will limit their reach. I wouldn't hope for it.

But you can still upload there if you want. Perhaps the feature can change some things, maybe it won't. Pinterest and Instagram are automatically marking human made work as AI generated. It won't surprise me if Novelcult tries to automate that. Knowing how they're looking into AI detectors.

[silverraven0]

Namicomi. Just realized they also host novels aside from comic.

Unless I truly missed it, I see no mention of any ai policy on their tos and help. (Please redirect me to the policy if I did miss it since so far I didn't see any AI titles in the front page)

Bl and gl is ok.

NSFW is a no no. You can only 'implied' they do the deeds. Violence and partial nudity is okay but not too gory. In their word "not obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, violent, harassing, libelous, slanderous, or otherwise objectionable".

Monetization is possible. You got 85% and they got 15%.

Plus since the site looks neat and clean.

Can publish comic in scroll or page per page format.

Wont do any 'originals' titles so its not locked to namicomi only.

Got an app.

They need to update the help page, man. The redirect to tos wasn't even working.

Unsure if fanfiction is allowed. Probably not.

[AmysGames]

As someone who uses NamiComi:

• Not sure why I can't find it in their content policy, but they definitely don't allow A.I.
• They're actually pretty permissive so far as NSFW goes, but after a certain point they do expect it to be paygated (so that minors can't view it)
• idk for sure if they allow fanfic, but I'm pretty sure it's discouraged at least
• Site is still fairly new and definitely needs a lot of work lol

[IndigoShirtProd]

I read earlier today that Inkstra is now implementing web novels. I don't post novels so I haven't looked into it, but I'm sure if you have any concerns Dan, the owner, will take them into account.

[silverraven0]

@IndigoShirtProd Yup, I did asked some questions to him and he did tell me that webnovel is in the works. You can see the question and answer we have below the jnkstra review in this topic.

@AmysGames how far can we take the nsfw ? Since yeah the tos did say all that but since it's not enforced fully they probably need to update the tos along with the ai policy. The 'help' page is at least 3 years old without update now.

[AmysGames]

I wouldn't personally know, as my own comic is fairly PG, but I know people have posted some pretty spicy stuff on there, lol. I think the only real restriction is that there has to be an actual story and not just pure pron.

[silverraven0]

Scribblehub.

Bl gl is a yes.

Nsfw is allowed but no porn without plot.

Pretty active forum.

New novel need 12 hours minimum after submission to get approved. After that it's around 5 minutes for it to show up on front page.

Fanfic is allowed but you cannot monetize it or take donation.

They're strictly story based. So if you have poems, collection of ideas and such, you're out.

Only English. Any other languages is not approved.

If you post there you gotta post everything and not have 'missing chapter' elsewhere. Pretty reasonable.

They allow partially AI created stories. Like, you still need to write but, yeah...

So anyway, they allowed ai. Nah.

[silverraven0]

Is it possible to dm me the series titles so I can check them out?

[silverraven0]

Ngl looking at my list all of the novel only website let you use ai for either cover or stories lmaooooo (I'm unsure about AO3 ai Policy).

[IndigoShirtProd]

Oh sorry, I should have been more clear. Webnovels have been implemented. You can start uploading them now.
