It seems that most readers prefer batches, but as a comic artist, it's simply much easier to release comics page by page, especially because I work on comics in color, and I work on multiple comics.
I do go back and combine pages (even though it hurts my numbers) since it helps archive readers, but I think putting pressure on authors to always have a batch update is unrealistic, and really hurts smaller creators who can't dedicate a ton of time to comic making. I've seen almost every artist I know get annoyed by the classic, "Your updates should be longer" comments, because they are so out of touch with what it's like to make comics right now. :S
I think it's also worth noting the difference between comics in the page format, and comics in the scrolling format. They are really different in terms of workload and payoff, and it's important to know those differences before you judge a comic too harshly for it's update scheduale.
@ISNEKO I think if you prefer stories to not start and stop, webcomics might be an odd choice to use your time reading. You may want to focus more on reading serialized work with bigger teams that can simply output more, aka stuff like Shounen Jump or book store releases. Or, you should simply focus on webcomics that are already completed. (Itchio and Gumroad are both nice places to find Indie comics that are already completed.)
Have a nice day!
