I've not been on Tapas long enough to really see the shade that might happen there, but I did see my fair share of things on webtoons.
Like some creators that just screenshotted the panels of populair (web)manga and gaining like 2k subscribers. And if they aren't reported they just get away with it. Really ticks me off because someone else spent weeks, months or years working on their masterpiece and you just copypasted it and published it in like 15 minutes.
A small thing I came across on webtoons are those comics made with the Gacha app by Lunime (don't know if this is an actual topic people talk about.) I rarely see them on Tapas (but maybe i'm blind) but webtoons is full of them. Personally I don't really care for them but I know a lot of people get mad at them saying it's a site for art, not screenshots from a game.
Another thing that seems off to me is when a webcomic creator just begs their fanbase for fanart. I'm not going to call names here but it just seems not right. Like I do appreciate fanart like some other people. But as a creator you make art/comics for your fanbase, not the other way around right? Also threads asking people to draw someone's oc better seems a bit dirty to me.
If you're that desperate for (fan)art, go commission someone. At the very least go to a fanart thread and wait your turn. Don't go making another thread just about asking others to draw your oc better.
Sorry for the rant! ~Dual
