Not original art or anything, but the image can be broken down. There's the all important fire that the characters sit and talk around. The background is supposed to be the wrecked world in the wake of the apocalypse (which is described as leaving everything in a smog)

Ugly cover desperately needs revision:

It is to portray main characters disintegrating self and identity. Half circle of debris represented the earthquake which kick-starts the story, and another of hair means letting go of connection to the past (in many cultures, it is common to cut someone's hair after mourning or something bad happened). The flowers and vegetations in color of flesh is the violent nature of death and living.

Darzsa (MC) is being held by Josiah. Josiah has his arm around Darzsa, holding him close, as seen by how tight his fist is clenched. I wanted to give a protective vibe

Darzsa is leaning against him, comfortable in Josiah’s arm, hence the smirk. And also because it lends to how cheeky he can be at times and has that “I know something you don’t” look. He’s a feisty little something so I wanted to show how he’s secure in knowing Josiah is there for him. All circling back to the title

And the shattered glass goes with the mirror imagery present throughout the book. Art Deco background because it’s set in the 20s. Darzsa is in a dress because he’s gender non-conforming.
