Day 8 Update!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on adding images to novels—specifically, ones styled like a notebook filled with artwork that enhances the story. Do you think it’s too distracting and pulls you out of the immersion, or does it help create a more vivid picture of what you're reading? Let me know what you think!

Love the idea of adding images to novels, may even attract people outside the typical novel readers too Yep I think it would create a more vivid picture, I'm unfamiliar with the novel interface as I'm a comic creator on here but yep immersion can be kept based on your layout. Not sure how far you're going with the idea but maybe on the Jpeg, if you're a digital artist too, maybe you can tatter the edges of the image so it looks like a torn piece of paper stuck onto your novel?
so you get an effect like this? That way it feels like you naturally tacked it onto the novel?

I'm more of a visuals person than novel reader, so you definitely caught my attention with your sketches, awesome designs very haunting and organic in nature.

It used to be fairly common for novels to include some art, usually more like sketches. Check out old editions of books like the Pooh stories or Sherlock Holmes. If I had the talent for the art, I'd do that, too.

I love sketches/images on books. These are most effective for Fantasy adventures--the creatures! maps! I remember Monster Blood Tattoo by D.M. Cornish had lots of creature sketches and absolutely loved it. Also, stories that has a lot of "evidence" so the reader can also study them with the MC (thrillers, detective stories, etc). If placed correctly, it can make the story very immersive.

I think adding images to novels is a good idea. Was thinking of doing that, actually. Because you can cram the data of a novel but with the visuals of a comic.

Scrapped it because... I think ADB isn't really epic long. (Used to say the same thing with the previous 2 comics... )

I think that idea could work with certain stories, and it would honestly be less intrusive (imao) then regular fully rendered drawings of the characters. I don't particularly like having an actual image of the characters in the novels I'm reading, because then I can't imagine them.

I add comic panels in between my novel pages to make it more immersive.

I'll definitely look into how that can be done and explore different ways to implement it. I think it would be a great detail to add!

Yep goodpoint on certain stories Guessing most novel readers (romance expecially) are accustomed to something that mirrors the classic romance webnovel or paperback novel rite? Guessing also accustomed to having the freedom to interpret things in their own personal ways based on pure text. I'm a total noob on romance novel side of things 🤣

Yea maybe based on gnere/target demographic instead eg. Scifi & action fantasy novelist that also wants to attract Shonen manga readers or ppl who collect pictures of mechs, cryptids, spaceships etc

@mohdadeebace that looks awesome with the manga-like comic pages and shading. The black and white was a great choice too, gives a natural look within the novel format

@NeuHorizon yea mee too, think it will be a great detail to add expecially as you have something mysterious and sci-fi and would attract geeks/gamers too. Can probably look through some old archeology-exploration themed picture books and journals online for inspiration. Used to love the dinosaur themed storybooks as a kid, cant remember the titles off my head but remember there were some that gave the feeling of being on an archeology expedition.

Most Light Novels still add illustrations every few pages or so to enhance the story. And I think it can greatly help with immersion into the world of the story, so if I could do it myself I would 100% add them hahahaha.

Both the novels I’m writing on here have artwork, I really like having it, honestly.
