Shares some interesting facts about your favorite character designs (physical or personality)

I'll start with both my female leads.

I find Alicia's design interesting because I like the way her confidence shifts. I think it's a fairly realistic way of feeling confident someday, shy others, and ugly sometimes.

She has a pretty strong understanding of the fact that she IS beautiful, but she also has a lot of scars and she allows those to make her feel ugly sometimes. I feel like this adds an element of realism, as very few people, even when they "know" they are beautiful feel confident all the time.

I also like balancing her perceived passive nature with the way she likes to tease and joke with her best friend, and even be flirtatious. She can be angry or she can be affectionate, and none of these seem dichotomous in her nature because she's a complex person. She can be herself around people like Kattar and Melissa, but is socially anxious around other's so the full extent of who she is doesn't come through. But this too, I feel is realistic, as most people can't completely let loose and be themselves around strangers.

Kimberly's personality IS dichotomous. But that is intentional. Anything more would be spoilers. But I also like her visual design. She's Vanuatu, so she has blonde hair despite also being African American, she also has green eyes. Both these traits kept her from fitting in basically anywhere, because she certainly isn't white, but she also doesn't look like most black people.

My favorite character design for Apparent Secrets is for Zayzann, the Paxoram alien who lives with the main character. He was the first of the alien roommates that was designed for my web novel and is (by far) the most challenging to draw.

Zayzann's just over seven feet tall in his natural form, has blue and black feathers all over his body, and an immense pair of wings that rattle like plastic window blinds when he's agitated. The crest of cranial feathers on his head helps with navigation during flight, and it raises up a cockatoo. He looks like this:

Alright, I’ll share some people here then

I made kids hair into little horns, specifically cause his “beta version” so to speak, was called Capetinha, aka Little devil. So I kept it, and it adds to silhouette and it just looks cool.

Also everyone struggles to draw this guys hair. No idea why.

Akala Maya

Appearance:
Hair like devil horns because obviously she's a devil

Young lady age 15-20 (even if she's really at least thousands of years old) = makes her look innocent and approachable. She's not supposed to look intimidating femdom maxed like a typical female villain.

Her outfit = while it violates catholic school standards (skirt has to be to your knees while sitting down), didn't really design her to be pure sex appeal as that's not her style. Her char design could be either a protagonist or antagonist.

Color scheme = black because she's obviously evil. Little bit of red because red is the color of blood. And she's bloodthirsty being a devil and all that..

Personality = sarcastic, smiley, dark humor, very good at masking her bloodthirsty nature.

Appearance:
When I designed her I had in mind the good girl look without looking like a damsel in distress. Straight long hair seems to be standard for female protagonist.

Outfit = modesty and functionality in mind.

Color scheme = pink because it's a traditional feminine color. Red is also associated with being "fiery" as it balances out femininity. She is a very capable fighter.

Personality = numb stoic with a little bit of smile and bubbliness. Imagine Rei Ayanami with a little more emotion.

She has no hair, but i positioned the big floopy ears in such a way to give the illusion of hair. Whrn she gets old her ears don't flop to the top of the head making her appear like she has less hair.

Something I like about Kattar's idea is the idea of writing a pampered prince who isn't really over the top. He's always had almost everything he wanted, but the difference caused by him not having one thing that was essential grounds him. He doesn't like not receiving what he wants, but he's also spent so much of his life being trained to suck it up because he had no dad and his mother didn't have the time and wasn't interested in caring for his emotion that he kind of doesn't like receiving 'stuff.' expensive gifts were always just pacifiers.

He's basically the result of what happens when you filled a kids pockets with money but never hugged them. Think about it. You just start to feel really heavy.

Those who have read up to the chapter "Lullaby" will know this, but I just love the contrast between the character designs of Alicia's mother and Mrs. Moon.

All the power that Mrs. Moon displays in ever part of her design (always well dressed, regal, tall, and sort of matriarch-ish) is directly countered by Alicia's mother (childish, very small, and very young.)

While Alicia and Kattar were born in the same year, they're mothers are a full decade apart in age, and all the parts of this contrast really vividly represents the different effects different childhoods will have on a character. Frankly, I'm really proud of this part of the plot.

I have lots of favorites, but I just really like the idea of Pollyanna. She's seven-feet-tall, imposing, gruff, and seems tough--the strongest person on her planet. She's a bit of a bully, and hates seeing weakness in other people. But inside, she's just a broken woman, and she hates seeing weakness in herself most of all. She's also 50 years old, and hardly anyone has old characters lol.

Oh, I have some older characters in my story, one of which is Mrs. Moon (56 years old) who sounds a lot like Pollyana honestly, lol

Right now my favorite character design is Leia. I love the complexity of her emotions and mental state. She wants to save her little brother, but she feels helpless, so she's doing it in one of the most detrimental ways that can be imagined because she thinks it's the only options she has. But writing the way she sees the world that makes it all make "sense" I think is a proud achievement. Not every character is going to come to the bets conclusion on how to deal with their issues, but you as the writer, should be able to make the readers understand their POV I think, even if they can't agree with it

My favourite character is probably Keanu Ikazuchi, the self-appointed "Han Solo" of Raikiri.
Thought I'd focus less on an overview and more some fun facts about him.

• His hair and shoes are based on Sonic the hedgehog.
• He shares my inability to remember names, so resorts to giving everyone nicknames.
• His name is Hawian for "Cool Breeze" and his last name is Japanese for "Lightning". I liked the name so much it's the reason his race is based on Pacific islanders.
• He likes his headband so much that his weapons in their base form have little bandanas of their own.
• When his energy spikes his eyes change colour; his left eye always turns blue and his right always turns red.
• His fighting style is Jeet Kune Do, based on Bruce Lee's fighting style.
• Loves pizza to a disturbing extent, but has real problems with pineapple on them or square pizza.
• Originally a Dragonball OC. The only thing that remains of that version is his floppy bangs, bandana and special attack.
• In an older version he wore a buttoned shirt that I changed panel by panel when I updated the series for a paperback release. If he ever wears a shirt randomly, you'll know I missed one.
• He's shorter than every other male character that isn't a child.
• If I had to cast his voice for an animated version, I'd choose Aaron Dismuke (Shirogine from Love is War, Senku from Dr Stone).

I feel like Cly is a fun character to draw. He's a very angular sorta guy, and is a bit different from how I usually draw male characters. I tend to have fun with how tall and pointy he is.
