Should I Continue Making Comics?

I made two topics about one comic. One of them basically told me the comic was too offensive and that I should take it down (I took it down). It also made me lose my 7th sub. The other topic basically told me that they liked the joke. I shared the comic with my friend who told me he liked the comic. Honestly, I don't even know why I started making comics in the first place. I'm fine with quitting making comics, and I'm fine with making comics. I am not familiar with your comic which was offensive, however it is not unheard of of creators to make a joke and have a negative audience reaction which leads to the creator deleting something. There is nothing wrong with listening to feed back especially if you are just some one starting out. If you are someone who wants to be more edgy, you also have to be aware that you will have to deal with harsher criticism from people who don't like your work.

If comics are your passion/hobby, I don't think you should just 100% give up after one set back.

I saw both topics about the joke -- no one said it was offensive to my knowledge??? Just that it didn't make sense. And that's true -- the joke fell flat.

Not really a reason to quit.

If you want to do comics, then you do the comics that you want to do. But you shouldn't go into it with the express goal of getting fans or subscribers, do it to tell the story you want to tell in the way that you want to tell it.

I think you should continue it if that's what you want to do. However, if you aren't satisfied with the current state of art and writing, then there's absolutely NO SHAME WHATSOEVER of taking a break from your comics and going back to the drawing board to learn how to improve your craft. Maybe look up a few tutorials online or get a few books from your library for art and writing and see what you want to do. Maybe make an entirely new project to practice on if you wanna stick with your current series or make something new. Don't be afraid to ask for feedback as well. There are plenty of people out there who want to help, all you have to do is ask. We've all gotta start somewhere, and what matters is that you're moving forward and improving with what you want to do that truly counts.

If its worth continuing is up to you. Those are some questions that may help:

1-Do you like making comics?: if you enjoy it, keep making them. Even if you dont publish, it is a cool hobby to have.

2-Do you see it as a hobby or as a carreer?: to make a living on comics, you need to deliver a product of good quality. It involves learning about writing, storytelling and art among other things. If you are willing to put the work on improving your craft go for it. If it is just a hobby, there is no need to improve (unless you enjoy working on the quality of your craft)

3-Are you interested in posting online?: Everyone has their reasons to share things online or to keep them private. Personally i dont share all the comics i make. When it comes to sharing content online, you are open for outside judgement, for better or worse. Personally i think Tapas is a good site to get constructive feedback if that is your goal, but it is always important to be careful on what you post.
