Show me a picture/photo of your printed books!

I know in this digital age, printed comics are becoming more and more of novelty, but even so I still can't stop myself from loving paper and ink books! Holding a book by the spine, flipping past a glossy cardstock cover and flipping through crisp pages; its just so comfortable! Even stepping into a bookstore, or better yet, a print shop and smelling fresh paper makes me feel inspired. I know that printed books may have lost their significance recently, but since I spent so much of my childhood around books, in libraries, at book fairs, and in bookstores ( R.I.P. Borders) they still mean a lot to me.

That being the case, I want to see how your printed works have come out. Have you done a print run of your comics? Do you still have some copies laying around? What size did you opt for? Did you go for glossy or non glossy covers? Did you consider a book jacket or french flaps ( I LOVE french flaps!)? Where/how did you get it printed? Did you go local or online? But most importantly, don't forget to upload pictures!

Well, I don't yet have any of my comics in print, but I am working toward having a self-published print book out later this year. This is the front cover I'm hoping to use. I plan to go online to get the book printed, and it's going to be 11" x 8.5" (portrait). I, too, love reading my comics in print form, and hope to pattern the book after some of the books published for newspaper cartoonists. I'd like to have glossy covers, but that's still up in the air at this time. Hoping people will want to buy it! Fingers crossed!

I haven't gotten the chance to print my comic, Crow Summer, through a real printer yet (gotta get my hands on some funds first!!) but I did manage to hand print and bind a couple mini copies on my office printer!!

It turned out SUPER, SUPER cute!! It's about 5" by 7 1/2", so it's small. I did that because it was the easiest size to hand-trim, haha!! It also turned out well because I have to make the text size really big to be readable on Tapas mobile, so when I print the book small the text is about the right size for the page.

I just went with regular printer paper for the interior, but it isn't see-through at all so it worked out. Used a thick card-stock cover, no gloss.

Anyways, I totally agree with you about the charm of a real paper-and-ink book, there's something so great about being able to hold the story in your hand. I carry my copies of my comics everywhere I go, haha!! I'm planning to do a print run this summer and I can't wait to see how that goes.

Yes! There was something truly magical about flipping through the glossy pages of my first printed comic. It's just so... official. It still blows my mind to see nearly a year's worth of hard work in my hand. I still have one of the crappy spiral-bound books printed off a desktop printer that I made for my high school's art show. Here's a picture of the glossy one I printed as gifts for my family:

I didn't do a print run of this comic for sale since it was just a short story, but they were pretty cheap to make at UPS. I think they were less than $2 per 20-page B&W booklet? The machine could even staple them in the middle.

Our first print run! We did 300 and numbered them on the bottom...

for the second printing, we're going to have the issue number, the new format in the interior cover, and maybe have a guest artist for the cover--- I'd like to have a guest artist and have been eyeing a few people who I'd like to have as my variant artists.

I went with matte, less glossy for my covers as well as interiors. Standard American comic size... and ordered my comics online. I have maybe, 100 copies left-- but I am saving half for my Kickstarter that I hope to get going soon...

Here's my printed book of Erie Waters. Since it's a complete comic, I just had to have it available as a hard copy.

I used CreateSpace and I'm quite happy with the quality, especially for the matte cover. I also like CS because they're print on demand. I can order as many copies as I want to sell them at cons or whatever, and readers can order a copy for themselves too and I don't have to do any of the shipping.

I sell my books on conventions so I bought a 200 edition of them in february Half of them already found a new and happy reader ^^ I prefer a non-glossy cover (it's also easier to look at if the light on conventions is bad). Since I have 160 pages in my book I went for a normal soft cover book - like a real manga ^^ I printed it online at a printing service and the pages turned out AWESOME. I even have some colored pages. I'm so happy about the outcome <3

It's so awesome to finally have your work as a physical copy. However popular webcomics are, nothing beats a print version. It's like your story becomes part of the real life (I also work completely on PC, so this is the first time my drawings actually are physical).

Here is the printed version of Magic Advisor. I published it in my own publishing company. It is in all the swedish online stores and in my own webshop. Its only out in swedish so far but hopefully there will be an english edition in the summer
