Hello! Long time, no see! I was wondering if it would be cool to show your character sheets? I do have characters for my project in mind but I haven't made a proper character sheets for them and I could use some examples/inspiration.

i only really have a character sheet for one of my two MCs, bc my art style updates so rapidly that character sheets go out of date crazy quick. but this one is only a year old, its still fairly accurate rn

and i have some makeshift model sheets for a current short project too, but theyre more like dev sheets, im gonna eventually make them up some model sheets after doing more sketches to get a feel for their forms and the outfits. i cant upload these rn tho for some reason...

i dunno how essential model sheets are for comics - reference and development sketches are essential, but ive been told that straight up model sheets are rarely used in the industry. personally, i do like them, theyre really useful - when i first start drawing a character, i tend to keep a few sketches of them on what i call my 'sketchboard' - a page-sized file where i conglomerate references and palettes. because ive been working on twaw like two years now, most of my characters are pure muscle memory (but i do end up forgetting some accessories :U)

I'm not expert on ref sheets and most of mine are very old xD
The outrageous color pallet here was unnecessary for Jeremy and I learned to cut that down and I added gloves to him.

Mel's is pretty up to date but right when I added her in my comic I decided to add frills to her headband XD
For someone who's in with a small publisher, I'm not too professional.

Been working on Pandora's Scar for a few years, and only finally put together fit-for-public-viewing, sort-of character sheets this year

It works differently for different artists, of course, but for myself while I do start out with a set of loose design sketches that I reference so I don't forget details of each character's design, I think it being y'know, comics, it's preferable to get into the actual story creation part- scripting/storyboarding and so on as soon as possible. Characters and the way they are drawn may evolve as the story goes on, so not spending too much time polishing the designs also helps me not to get too attached to them heh....

I was never really big on actual sheets, but I do like to make doodle dumps for each character to practiced consistency, and paste them all in a bio document. It works, I guess!

Funnily enough, I just finished making my first ever character sheet experiment for my webcomic DRGN. I was about to post it in a separate topic for feedback, but I guess I'll post it here.

Please tell me what you think and how it could be improved!

I wasn't going to add more. but making character sheets are my jam. I make tons of them. So I'm gunna post a few more.

usually my character sheets will the same process, a image of them standing upright, used to show the whole person as well as their colour scheme, then expression and action poses, as a quick was to get a feel of how their face works, or how their cloths word work in different poses or even if it's in a art style i usually don't keep practice with, great for relearning that.. And the last thing would probably be fashion. but that is usually a whole different character sheet depending on their wardrobe.

and character sheets can go from one simple sheet, to 6-8 different sheets focusing on different parts of their character. depending on how important they are to the story, how much i'll be drawing them. Or how much i ENJOY drawing them.

so heres more and different examples of character sheets, from detailed to not so much.
