Oh, my. I've got dozens upon dozens. I did an image up for every chapter of Finding Daecon's Way, and one for most chapters of Wild Nights, Hot and Crazy Days. I'll post a few of my favourites here though, and you'll get to see my art style improve as we go:
I will dedicate this post to images from Wild Nights, Hot and Crazy days. First up, we have this image of a 12 year old Carmen realizing some things about himself when he sees a vision of sexual perfection in a yellow banana hammock. Carmen is not holding that surf board in front of himself because he needs the floatation.
Next, a few years later, we have recently-turned-14 year old Carmen first laying eyes on his first love:
Carmen at almost 16 years old, just hanging around at the lake with friends. Straight friends. Carmen had a secret.
Carmen at the high school senior prom with the first and only girl he ever dated:
Carmen sitting on the shore of the lake with Bruce, the first guy he'd ever get into a long term relationship with. This image, and the chapter it's attached to, is entitled "Feeding Frogs". That flourescent light was attracting moths, and Carmen was catching them and feeding them to frogs that were in the water, much to the amazement of Bruce. It was a magical evening that would end on a not so magical note.
Carmen a few years later, now with short brown hair (the blond disappeared when he had it cut), about to enter a gay bar for the first time, and in the process meeting his very first drag queen face to face. Carmen was mortified and terrified.
Carmen gets a very unexpected (and very welcome) kiss on Leather & Feather night. This kiss would have implications.
Carmen (under green light) watches his new boyfriend, Troy (under purple light), dancing with Darryl (under red and yellow lights - yes, that's the guy from the previous pic) while Darryl's boyfriend Johnny (under blue light) observes
Carmen and his boyfriend Troy share a kiss on New Year's Eve 1999 (actually, this kiss happened at 1AM on Jan 1, 2000 - it's a complicated thing, but it's all in the book!) while Rodney (Carmen's straight friend, also shown in the pic with the bicycle above), Darryl, Don, and Mel cheer them on:
And finally, the story-ending image, where Carmen marries Troy:
These are only the highlights from WNHCD, of course. There is lots more to the story. I should also point out that Carmen is me. It is a true story.
