Most of the time, my rough sketches look like barely constructed outlines with hints at potential facial expressions. I end up going over my rough outline with a less rough outline (if that makes any sense) before finally finishing with the actual line art.
Below is the first outline which gives me the general idea of what I might want to do for this page. I don't worry too much about proportions. After this stage, I will outline everything again, but this time I will make sure people actually look like people with appropriate (at least to the best of my abilities) proportions. Unfortunatly, I don't have this version saved as I usually delete this layer once my line art is done.
Finally, I will outline everything for a third time, but this will be the clean version where I make the lines as neat as possible. I also tend to change things dramatically from my first lining process based on new ideas I may have or if I feel something else would work better.
