Here's what my "sketch" pages look like:

They're usually direct reflections of the thumbnails I do at the begining of the chapter. The canvas is much smaller than the final page size, because it's easier for me to plan on a smaller surface and then scale it up.

I re-designed the first panel after placing the text and seeing it didn't work with the original layout, which I do during my underdrawing round after the page has been extended to full-size in photoshop.

So I sketch a page 3 times (thumbnail, "sketch" and underdrawing) and then start the lineart.

@niah146 Ahhh it makes me so happy to know at least one person is excited. Makes me want to push my expected upload date up as early as possible. Love the expressions in your drafts too

@Flea-Sha It's pretty impressive to go from stick figures to full figure drawings. I usually start out trying to get the proportions the way I want them the first time I draft. And definitely get out of the habit of deleting anything! I've been in this situation many times where I'll finish line art or a painting and then realize a proportion is off, but my sketch is gone

@Strontium 3 sketches sounds like a lot, but that's a really neat process. I should probably split up my drafts into two since I have a bad habit of trying to clean up my sketches when they're supposed to be sketches.

Well i draw everything traditionally by hand because its easier and i have an idea on the balance and prospective. when i draw on computer i end up doing so much adjustment and i can't manipulate the canvas like i want to. so its better i draw it and scan it in then illustrate and color lol works just right!

I swear my initial sketches are like baby doodles lol. I usually draw them that way just to get a quick understanding of how I want to page to layout.

Then I do a second sketch on top of it so I for linework purposes. Sometimes I'll line the bg if its simple enough.

Honestly I have a bad tendency to wing it as far as the full comics, but my attention to detail has gotten a lot better... character sketch from one year ago and now. Yikes.
