Hi! I asked awhile ago on a thread how to earn money real quick for an artist. Long story short, I'm 23 but my back's already messed up so I'm trying to raise enough money to buy tablet or ipad that I can work with while lying on the bed during my rest. (bc I can only work 3 hrs straight sitting I thought I should be productive while resting)

Most of you guys suggested that I should do NSFW arts, but I can't because I'm on my parents house and my workstation is on the living area :expressionless:. There's a lot of creative suggestion but I can't do them mostly bc of my back issue. So I thought maybe I can do custom sketchup models for artist to use as a background.

What do you guys think?
I'm proficient on using sketchup and vray 3d render.
I also do backgrounds for a featured artist from webtoon. I prepare the sketch up and input them per panel.

Anyone interested If ever I offer this job?
I can sell the whole model completely for unlimited use.

I would love to hear your suggestion! For ma back's sake :sob:

Thank you

You could try Fiverr, it's a freelance work site. The main con I've heard is that you might miss work from other timezone.

For 3D modeling, you could post models on sites like sketchfab and people might buy it.

Whose backgrounds did you draw on webtoons if you don't mind me asking?

I'm avoiding freelance site as much as possible because competition is tough. posting and waiting for someone to buy my model take so much time.

Unlovable replacement. And it just launched!! Hahaha. Although I still suck editing the bg at first few episodes, I improved alot around episode 5.

oh i just checked that webtoon for the background work and would like to ask if you do each item in the backgrounds or do you combine found components from 3D warehouse to complete a room/background?

It's a good idea, but I'm not sure how many comic artists would be able to afford it. But thatmight depend on your prices. Otherwise, it's important to note that you can't sell your services on the tapas forum. We aren't allowed to advertise our commissions or anything like that here. But you might try twitter, Reddit, etc?

I do all the basic stuff like layout, window and wall. I use component if it's too complicated unless she requires me to do specific design. But I also create my own components with my interior design jobs if the client requires a specific furniture design.

Well, it depends how big and detailed they require. I'll set a standard price depending the type of ccupancy and size of the model. But definitely it'll be cheaper as long as I don't have to render it :joy: but not too cheap because they're buying my intellectual property.

I didn't know it's not allowed here. I'll try on reddit! Thanks

That's really cool. Anyway I'd suggest to advertise sketch up commissions over at your Instagram to get more traction. I'm sure there are a lot of creators in need of backgrounds or just background models in general.

I just created my ig not long time ago, but I'll ask my friend to advertise me. I don't want to work with two different artist for the mean time. I might die :joy::v:ļø Thanks!

I think sketchup 3dwarehouse is getting stricter lately. I just checked it out few hours . you have to open an account and use 2017 sketchup version for most of the components.

I know you can create packages of 3d assets on Clip Studio for sale--I don't know if there's a way to import your designs to CS but I know there's quite a few artists that make a good income selling brushes and assets that way for both CS and Photoshop.

this is a good one too.
i've seen some tutorials that teach you how to import sketchup models into CSP and whatnot. So this gotta be feasible.

Hi, just randomly poke in. If you could do decent BG art, you could go to dev game site. Background artist is always on request, coz it is hard to find a good one with decent price. You can try offering your work/service at Lemmasoft, itch.io, cloudnovel, those kinda site I guess? just a suggestion by a random stranger.

Hope you manage to raise your fund to get ur tablet ^^/

If you're comfortable doing it, another idea is being a stock model for artists. (Not required to be nude, or even full body.) Some on Deviantart post low res jpgs of their images and sell bundle photos with premium png res (or you get them through supporting their patreon.) Action poses, hands and feet in assorted poses are the most sought after since they're the most relevant and/ or most challenging aspects of drawing.

I'm interested! I also have a featured webtoon, but in another app! I have to check my budget but I'm really interested! How can I contact you?
