It sometimes seems like people pop out of nowhere and gain an insane following so fast. Those people either have proffesionally and insanely perfect comics (I mean, there is no denying someone with some kind of art background entering this game will have a easier time) or, and that is for most cases, the build up a following on another website and redirected them to their "new home".
I published a comic 5 times/week for a year and only had 60 subscribers by the end of it. I was insanely proud of that, but something more important had happened in that time, that had nothing to do with gaining a big following or not: I got better. I had learned a lot in that one year. Now I just finished my second year with about 3,5k subs on Tappastic & Webtoons combined. And next year I will learn more, and grow more.
You need to take that time into account, not only will you need it to promote your work, but also to get better at what you´re doing, regardless of where you currently stand. And I don´t mean just artwise, I mean storywise, storyboardingwise, brandingwise, consistency wise....
Anyways, if you want to be in this game, you need to prepare for a long road. Good luck
