Customer Service & Community issues are still reported via email addresses.
They are asking for Creator related issues to go through the Discord. That includes:
"Issues around posting your series
Payment issues
Technical concerns"

I still think it's a bad idea.

Oh, and they DID say:

Yeah I've just updated the first post after seeing this. Like it's really unclear if they're still taking emails on creator things or not since some of them overlap in their own post? Like it's not that hard to go "Alternatively, you can still email us!" And they can say "we're not getting rid of the forums" all they like, why should we believe them if they keep taking things away from the forums and put all the big opportunities on discord only? It's like saying "we're not getting rid of the forums, we just want to make it so no one will use them".

at the same time that they just got rid of one of the forums isn't, as I see it, terribly credible. Esp when they not only discontinued the tech support forum as a tool but locked the door & deleted all the old content.
Everyone else in the world is striving for "one stop shopping" SO

They're slowly gonna start taking away categories like Promotions, Events/Challenges and similar stuff that "oh, can be more easily done on the discord! Just go there, you've got pretty much no choice, haha!"

I also just generally dislike the whole deleted all the content part of this. Like even from a pro-discord stance, why would you delete all those answered threads where people can go for answers if they have a similar problem, rather than having to ask again? Why not just lock it and leave it as an archive? Why would you not want people to just be able to search and go oh other people had the same issue and here's the fix, rather than having to ask again and again? I've been using Tapas for years and I still find answers in old forum posts.

When I came back to post on the Forums after some years of creator hiatus, I initially had difficultly finding it and I thought they got rid of it. Now it seems I'll be getting a front row seat now.

Guess I could try Discord, as I do already have an account, which I could readjust a little. Just hope it doesn't send a mess load of notifications like the groups I'm currently part of, which I consider pretty important so I don't want to shut off notifications either.

with regards to all of this my issue is a lack of clear transparency. if they wanna wind down activity here i would rather they just say so than a "we're not getting rid of it -winky face-" as though that'll resolve concerns

one of the big things i think has been pointed our semi frequently is the way the level of transparency between staff and users of the site is different than tapas/tapastic's early years. i can still remember a time where there would be the ocasional live stream with staff giving brie updates as to what was going on with site development the creator community and other things but as the site has grown things like that had died down and moved to the forums and thus activity here was a lot more consistent. Now with the tapas discord things are beginning to shift there.

a lot of folks have made clear their preferences as well where some of us prefer and would like to hold onto the forums while others are more inclined to the discord and a few folks are privvy to both. but all i'm saying is i'd prefer if they were straightforward. if their not gonna axe it then say so and if they are then get to the point and let us know rather than dragging it out like this.

Actually... I'm ok with this? I mentioned before that I admin a few large non-profit org discords and trouble-shooting/customer support is the one that works very well over Discord. The private messaging system is easy + you can instantly see whom you need to message about issues in a well-organized org discord. And as an admin all of your private conversations are laid out and easy to see if it needs more response.

Exactly this. The winky face, that they clearly added after seeing this post because it wasn't there the first time, felt like a mockery. "We're not deleting the forum, wink wink nudge nudge, we really are". We're getting mixed messages. Either act like you care, or tell us you don't. Just saying "no we're not" in a ps with a cute face doesn't actually reassure me, funnily enough.

And what's the good about Discord, you say? Things there are harder to be read by casual readers and tend to be more hidden (less Tapas tea spilling, and we know the supply of tea in this webcomics world is infinite). Yeah,everyone can get an invite and make an account, but it's WAY less work to just stumble upon a public forum.
