Space Demons - A Common Idea or Not?

For my sci-fi comic, I wanted to used a race called Star Daemons(It's a working name so I might change it later) which is basically demons in space. However I'm afraid people will accuse me of copying off from the webcomic "Ava's Demon" which is basically demons in space too though it has more drama in it. Though my idea was inspired by the Disgaea games and is more of a comedy.

Is having demons in space a common that I shouldn't worry about it? I mean the comic is more about world conquerors and daily lives and has different alien races.

You shouldn't be worried about that!

Like, there's been vampires from space, clowns from space, whatever. Demons from space shouldn't be any different. Hell, I've had a few ideas about that myself.

As long as you're telling the story your way and doing things for your story, it really shouldn't matter what some people will say it looks similar too. Honestly, those people will compare and complain about anything. There's just no pleasing those types XD

There are thousand of ways to design aliens and thousand of ways to design demons, so you should not worry, specially if the design is not similar at all. There are thousand of vampire stories but nobody accuse them of copying Dracula.

Also your story could be completely different from the other webcomic.

It makes me think of that one X-Files episode about a martian ghost from space or something and until then I hadn't even considered space ghosts. I think the idea has enough room for you to add your own interpretation that you don't have to worry.

To be honest the only thing that came to my mind when you said space demons was the DOOM game series. Haha. Though, those are arguably aliens and not demons...probably? And I mean there's only a bit of that game on Mars? They're....demon aliens? Haha. So I'd say go for it! Plus Disgaea is a great inspiration for that, I love those games. They're perfectly goofy. DO IT. It sounds fun.

heyooooo my comic also has space demons and was in fact, inspired by the very same thing: Disgaea! I thought the concept was an awesome idea and decided to work with it, ending up with making it based around 3 planets, and the demons usually spawn from a specific planet. it's an awesome idea and I think you should go with it because of the potential

elves and lizard looking aliens are both things that are common as hell in fiction, but we love writing and reading about them. so dont worry about how common it is! youll put your own original twist on it

that said, i dont think ive seen much of it. i really like combinations of space / sci-fi stuff and more fantasy or religious stuff like demons, so i think it would be really cool.

All ideas are tools, what matters is how you use it. As people said, don't be afraid to use ideas for fear of being common or not! As long as you stay true to yourself, you'll be able to do your own spin on it and that's what counts!!

Also, freaking Disgaea! Just reading the name makes me want to play it but I don't have 200 hours to spare!!!
(I'll probably go and play Disgaea today...)
