As I said, you should at least allow creators to accept the money directly given to them via coins. If someone pays for $10 worth of coins, any of those coins tipped, the creator should be able to collect, even if its just a few cents. You can still take the 15% off as had been indicated before. For coins earned through advertisement and the ad-revenue, creators I guess will just have to wait until they reach the $25. This is a very technical aspect, requiring distinctive changes to the way the site works, so this isn't easy to do per-say. But I say again, I don't like the idea of such a hidden, easy to miss limit being placed, not just on creators but specifically on tippers themselves, who may never realize their money can't be used unless they're directly told so. I think that is completely unfair.

I said it in the earlier post but if I had used Tapas to buy coins an then found out my money wasn't actually being used to support the creators, just being held indefinitely, I would've seriously demanded my money back. I would've demanded you give me every last cent so that I could properly give the money to the creator. At risk of repeating myself, if that $25 limit is necessary, than I feel both creators and readers have a right to easily know about it.Don't have this "limit" set on some obscure part of the site that nobody would check. Have it somewhere it won't be easy to miss.

wouldn't the reason be because it doesn't directly involve or influence them? yes they're the ones who are tipping but that's why it's encourage to find ways to get more of them to tip which is why creators on the site are encouraged to promote tipping and some are creating incentives for those who do tip

Firstly, I don't think tippers NEED this info. Adding it would just clutter up the app/site, more clutter=people paying less attention to the content in front of them.

And you're still ignoring the fact that the minimum is there because Tapas has to pay fees to get that money to the creators even after paying the cut due to the app stores. Digital transactions are full of fees! It's how businesses can stay afloat providing the service to have digital transactions. There are fees through ko-fi, Patreon, even direct Paypal donations.

Spending money WOULD support the creator, the money would go to the app store, showing Tapas is a viable app/site and that this coin system works, it would go to Tapas, the site that hosts the creator's work, and then it would go to the creator after a while.

Your whole argument is based the fact that everyone who buys coins does so because they want to tip. What about the majority of readers who buy/earns coins because they want to unlock a premium series. Having Tapas put up a "Be sure to know that if you tip, the creators don't get the money until they meet $25 minimum" is a bit unnecessary, don't you think?

That'd be like going to a restaurant and getting your bill with a message on the receipt saying "if you tip this much more, this restaurant will have a positive income".

I can't speak for every tipper, but as someone who has tipped creators, I don't do so with the intention of figuring out whether the creator is getting his money's worth from what I give him/her. I do so because I appreciated what he/she made.

What would creators and tippers possibly gain from stopping tipping?

Eh, idk about you, but I tip without caring if or when they use the money. The point, for me, is to show appreciation even if I didn't know about the minimum. Many readers probably do the same, dunno. You're kinda generalizing a huge part of tapas without asking readers themselves.

How much of a limit does Patreon cost? About one dollar.
How much of a limit does Ko-Fi cost? I think about 3 dollars. More than I would've deemed necessary but hey, better than $25.
How much of a limit does PayPal cost? Depending usually around $1.25. I'm sure things like international costs are different as well.

Yeah, they have fees and not only are they much cheaper but you are required to hit at least those limits before sending money. None of these places allow you to just send a few cents and keep the people in question from collecting their money until it reaches a quota and each one of those sites directly tells you what the limit is.

Sorry but I really don't care what Tapas is getting. They're getting 15% of the profit which is fine, I have little problem with that. That itself should be the "fee." That 15% can be used to help support whatever Tapas is working on, the rest of the money should rightfully go to the creators its being tipped to in the first place.

Out of all of the examples you mentioned, how many of them allow you to watch ads to send "money" to? Like it's been mentioned above (and has been totally disregarded along with other valid points that you just seem to pick and choose from), Tapas also supports readers who don't have money by letting them watch ads and accumulate coins in order to show appreciation to their creators.

I think most creators, if asked to pick between option A: Get money later when the amount reaches a certain level, vs B. Get no money at all, then most of them would pick option A.

Fees are unavoidable. Business, apps and transactions require working systems and the tech staff that keep those up need to be paid. If you want to lower your fees as much as possible, build your own site. Don't complain that tapas provides opportunities and services for creators and fans, and in return simply do what they must to keep said services and opportunities afloat.

Your arguments fundamentally make no sense.

I don't like that at all. When I send money of any sort, I like to know that it's going somewhere. If you all don't care about where your money goes and are just tipping for the sake of being nice. You might as well not tip at all imo. Create some "sticker" system where you can leave a little "Great Job" In fact, this idea kind of reminds me of the Llama system used on DeviantArt. I don't think there's any point to it other than nice support but its' just nice. Perhaps something similar for Tapas would be cool here. Have a little "sticker" section on your front page but I'm getting a head of myself here.

If you're sending coins through watching advertisements, this may not mean much. You aren't paying for anything, it's free, you don't lose anything.

However, for those directly buying coins, I say again, let that money at least be accepted by the creators.

You can ask a reader right now.

I was a reader before I decided to become a creator, and I tipped because I wanted to support my artists. I learned about the limitation, and it didn't stop me from tipping.

It encouraged me to give more.

I know where my money and coins going -- to the site. And I support both the site and the artists. I wouldn't do it if I didn't know, and I feel most people understand the same thing.

You get it when you get it.

And you have several other sources of income. People don't rely solely on the ads and the $25 limit.

So you're telling me that as a reader, without barely any knowledge on this limit, I can send Tapas any amount of money to buy coins, under the belief that creators would get that money. Like, get it and be able to use it anytime they wanted. You're telling me I could send Tapas money to buy coins, send those coins which represents the money I paid to support said creator? And yet it is both fair and even expected that unless the creator hits a certain quota, my money will never go to them?

Is that right? I just want to make sure.

Lots of sites have limits for withdrawing your earnings though. It's really common practice as far as I can see. Especially for distribution sites (which I think Tapas sorta is but what category sites fall into is another discussion) I meanI looked for all of five seconds in the FAQs and found the one of Tapas before even joining the site. I'm not sure why you couldn't? And so what if Tapas takes fees. People are using their site to host, they're doing all the technically stuff way better than I could, they can take a fee they deserve it for all I can see.

And when I give someone a tip anywhere I'm not concerned so much about how much it is but how it makes them feel. Even if a tipper can't give much when someone tips me it gives me warm fuzzies and let's me know they really appreciate my work, on the internet and irl, it's not about how much. It's a gesture and support as much as a nice comment but a little something more. It's not a waste if it make someone feel good about themselves and keep on keeping on. Don't underestimate what a tiny thing, even if you can't touch it yet, can do for motivation.

And as a creator, I don't want to withdraw a little money that's like nothing. What can I do with $10 or $2 really? I'd rather wait to have money I can actually do something with.
