And then it stops. Maybe you reach 15,000 coins which, for argument sake, let's say is worth $15. Nothing is saying you're going to get anymore tips there. Maybe you will or maybe it'll stay like that forever. That's $15 potential dollars, a potential $2 or so dollars for Tapas, going completely to waste. Does one just, beg for tips? Should they just ask their readers to tip them so they can reach it?
And yet if they don't know, they potentially waste money. At the very least, a more notable point of this limit should made available. If I go to get coins on the front page of the site, at least tell me that creators in question will need to have at least $25 worth of tips before they can take it out. I personally would hate to send in money, only to find out it's not actually being given to the creators.
Another thing to do is to potentially separate the values earned between advertisement and direct payment. Have the $25 limit set for the ads or any coins earned through advertisement. After all, these are the coins essentially provided for free. Then, at the very least, allow creators to collect money directly used to buy coins. If someone spent $5.00 for coins, at least have the creators take that out.
So if someone has $10 worth of coins or revenue provided from ads, tough luck I guess. But anyone who directly pays to get coins and send them, I feel creators should at least be able to collect that money and Tapas can still take the 15%. Although I don't know how easy the technical aspect of this would be.
Well let's put it this way. This whole $25 limit is not mentioned anywhere on the front page. When you go to collect coins, it's not mentioned anywhere there. I went and had to specifically Google "Tapas Tipping" to even remotely get anything.
Summary
This is the first thing that comes up not once on that front page is the $25 limit mentioned.
Summary
This is the next thing that comes when Googling this, the $25 thing is only mentioned once, in a regular post from a regular member, again, very easy to miss.
Summary
Here's the third link, the last one I"ll do. Nowhere on the front page is the $25 limit mentioned. In fact I think this might be a very old post because I believe the sub count needed today is 250. So this limit is not easy to find out and I can't stand the idea that hopeful readers are out there sending their money, expecting that it's being used to support creators when its instead being put into the "Tapas Holding Center" or whatever you want to call it.
There were times where I thought about buying coins to support a creator, it may not have been a lot but at some point I did think about wanting to directly show support. I guess I can only say I'm happy I didn't because if I had directly bought coins, sending my hard earned money in the hopes that it would get to the creator and found it they couldn't use it. I would've demanded my money back because I'd have made sure that if I'm sending any money, it's getting to the people who deserve it.
IMO, creators have a right to get the money directly given to them and tippers have a right to know that their money is going somewhere. Because I say again, this act comes off as dirty. From the outside, Tipping sounds like a great, fun way for creators to get support. There's no reason for tippers not to think creators aren't getting their $1, $5 or $10 worth of coins.
So yes, I agree, this should not be hidden, it should be easily viewable whenever you either get coins or perhaps go to tip.
