Being an American, I feel like I would've heard about it if we'd overturned a supreme court ruling and banned abortion!! There's a lot in the news about the current administration signing things that would reduce or eliminate government funding for places that provide abortions, but the practice hasn't been outlawed that I'm aware of.
[EDIT, for the rest of the question -- ]
That said,
what is your actual goal here? If you're trying to write what is essentially a Public Service Announcement, then knowing how things actually work in real life and what the real options are for someone in that situation is paramount.... but writing a PSA for an audience whose government you don't know well might not be a great idea to begin with!
I do think there's a difference between "exploiting the issue" and "writing a dramatic story." If you're just throwing teen pregnancy in there because it's a hot issue and you have opinions about it, then that might feel exploitive. Being outside the issue but still wanting to moralise about it can feel exploitive.
But if you're trying to tell a story about something that real people encounter, and you have taken the time to learn about what people in that circumstance actually face and what different options mean for them, then I don't think having some options that might not match reality in your story would be somehow Morally Cheap.
Like, for example, you could write a story where abortion has no stigma at all, which doesn't match our current reality -- and I think if it's just thrown in the story to be preachy about one side of the issue or the other and create drama, that would feel gross, but if it was an honest, empathetic take on how that option impacted the people involved, I think it could still be meaningful.
