The new owner of Tapas is a korean company, so? I worked for koreans before in a car sale. They earned money, I earned money and I used soap and water.

Well...this is interesting. I am hoping that this has little impact to us creators, but considering that it is 100% acquired AND language was noncommittal to even dismissive from the CEO before...I admit to being a little wary.

I just left wattpad for the second time too...may need to have another place mirrored :frowning:

Aw shit, am I gonna get banned here too?

I'm supposed to upload my comics to pornhub or something now?

You can ask all your questions in the pinned thread where Ratique can see and address them all in one place!

I really hope the Tapas team is telling the truth because I don't want to go through the ache of what happened with SmackJeeves again. But just in case and I believe in healthy competition, I want to remind people of ComicFury11. It's a place where you can create your own personal webcomic site (unlike with old SJ you don't have to pay anything). There is also a minimal design for mobile scroll read for those who want that.

It's very indie. No comic is payed to be upfront of any other. The default front page just shows who has recently updated.

Edit: I also want to add that since CF does not have an app it does not have to bend down to Apple's censorship rules. So for anyone who needs a mirror for their art to be unaltered, please give it a look.

for people concerned about any censoring of seggs and other mature stuff

We live in age where Marvel and DC aren't biggest comics publishers it's Scholastic. People have been talking about how manga is going dominate the comics market but it seems to gone unnoticed that Koreans are slowly dominating the webcomic market.

@Darth_Biomech @Flug Fairly speaking, Tapas Media is established by a Korean entrepreneur too. They have two branches in Seoul and California and the main branch is the one located in California.

Tapastic will be a Toyota Dorayaki Phoskito language? (Its humor guys, dont take it seriously XD)

I'm not a big fan of biggest tech companies buying off small ones. It eliminates their competitors so that they can easily become monopolies. When Neflix raised its subscription price, no one could stop it. It's a worrying trend.

Oooh, yeah... I hadn't given much thought to what a Korean acquisition may mean for the more adult titles here. I hope you'll be okay.

Well, I very much doubt things will improve. If anything, considering how things go with acquisitions, this will be the end of a lot of comics here.
I wouldn't be surprised if they will make changes toward even more monetisation and push off comics that doesn't fit the image they want to portray.

I'm just starting with Tapas. I love how my work works here, but if this is true. My work will be thrown aside. I'm not from So.Kor. or any Kakao-user country. Of course, they'd prioritize local creators/writers, and prospective Kakao-work/partner

I can't wait to start getting notices that my pages have been taken down by Tapas as well as Webtoon.
Looks like I'm going to have to get my own hosting and live a life without readers XD
