I created a new novel series on Tapas, but when I go to add an episode, it asks for an image file. Did I accidentally create another comic and now I have to delete this series and create it again the right way?

Hey, I found a little bug (or at least an issue) in the tapas app.

Normal comic episodes show the description below, while novels don't. Which I do find problematic, since in the description can be quite some important informartion.
I get that text followed by text might lead to some confusion in some cases. But there are options to mark the ending of the episode and the start of the description which you could implement (for examble a black bar).

So I hope that descriptions of novel episodes become accessible through the app as well.

Yes, you most likely created a comic series instead of a novel series and will have to create a new novel series to get into the proper online editor.

Hmm which series are you looking at and what is the model of your phone? I am looking at several free series on the iOS app and see episode descriptions/author's notes at the end separated by the creator's icon. Premium novels don't have episode descriptions.

Yes, I do see the descriptions on iOS but not Android. Will report this to dev team now! Thanks for giving us the heads up and sorry for the inconvenience! :sweat:

I've been trying to activate tipping but I got a return to sender email???

Please check that you are sending your request to gabrielleluu@tapasmedia.co and not .com!

Thanks for this window of opportunity, I am very much beholden to you, team Tapas! Will not let this go to waste, time to work on my writing seriously more than everr!!

As someone who writes for a non-paid living, I am super happy for this addition! It also gives me an incentive to finally shy somewhat away from fan fiction and do original stuff more often. I look forward to all the updates and such and I hope things will work out for all of us! Thank you again <3

EDIT Do thumbnails HAVE to be images or can a text-based file work so long as its in the format of an art piece? I ask because I can't afford to have someone draw me a cover and I'm not a great designer so making an image with free to use images to fit with my storyline/characters wouldn't work. I know I could ask someone for free on here to make me something, but I would rather pay them for it, which, again, I can't

Hi! I have a suggestion for the novel formatting for Tapas. I've written on multiple sites and I noticed that they many of them lack this function: the ability to allow the writer to use the shift key.

If you look at books, at the beginning of a paragraph, usually the author leaves a little space before writing.

It also makes it easier for the readers to read the book because it doesn't look like a block of words.

Yep! The editor should recognize special characters (if it doesn't, please let us know!) There are already several novels written in Spanish on Tapas.

So far the system is awesome! Hopefully, like the Tapas Team has already mentioned, down the line more features will be added. I for one wish it was more convenient for the Novel Platform to recognize already stylized text, meaning: I post my novel on Wattpad already and wish to bring it here also, but every time I paste my chapters in the Tapas Novel Platform, I manually have to go back in and re-bold or re-italicize areas that were like that before.

My life would be easier if I could just copy and paste documents into the Novel Platform without needing to re-italicize or re-bold words from my book. And has anyone noticed the Platform also lacks an option to move text to the middle of the page?

Oh sweet! I tried applying one of my novels for Tapas Premium a few months back, but was rejected sadly. Oh well, at least now I can post the story anyway ^^;

I'm really eager for images to become an option for the novels. I created a map of the world in my fantasy series, and I would love to post that in one of the chapters! :smile:

@gabbyluu
I need clarification. On the OP it sounds like we can post our stories/webnovel here and earn an income through ads revenue and tipping.
But in here1, it says "We do not offer self-publishing for books or written stories yet, but are planning on adding those features in the near future. Stay tuned for more announcements!"
Sounds like we can't earn from ads revenue through our stories/webnovel that we post here? Which one is it, miss? Could you clarify on this? Thanks for reading.

^^^ They're talking about physical self-publishing. Like printing actual books.

You can earn ad revenue and tips as a regular writer/artist here, but if you're looking to get your work physically published and sold through a distributor, you'll have to look somewhere else.

Either that, or it's a typo they forgot to remove from pre-novel app Tapas. Either way, yes, you can receive tips and ad revenues from your books here, just so long as you've opted into the Ad Rev program and you've applied and been entered into the tips program.

Hi Zack,

Sorry for the confusion! We did an overhaul of the help section a while back, before we had the free platform for books. You can earn from ad revenue and tipping (if you're 18 years or older) with written stories, and we'll need to update those sections accordingly.

For the record, @UzukiCheverie is also right that we don't do physical books haha
