I've seen a lot of names I recognize entering into the writers camp and I know that all of you have been working hard so I want to give those people (and the ones I don't recognize) a big good luck!

@GoldenPlume

Thank you. Your advice is the best I have read and 100% true.
For me, there is no greater satisfaction than completing a story and sharing it.

:innocent::laughing:I think you are? I believe I stumbled into yours around end of March by searching through FirstWritersCamp in the search bar under novels. I went through the list, think about 10 pages in all. That's how I saw yours and boy was I happy!! =D

Oh, haha at the time I made the post I wasn't yet on the list. However, I'm glad that I'm in there now and that you like it. I'm thrilled there are people who want to read what I write, it makes my day. Plus, I love reading your comments and feedback, it helps me keep going and improving as I do so, thanks for that too.

Just wanted to remind everyone that the contest will be closing on Thursday, April 19th at midnight PST! If you would like to be entered into the contest, please make sure to email a link to your story to writingcontest@tapasmedia.co!

That deadline is looking extremely close now. Hmmm, procrastination skills, think you'll kick in anytime soon?
*crickets chirping**
I can always count on myself to fail me!

1 chapter left to go!

@serena will the judging of the stories be based off how the stories are at the cutoff time? e.g. If I wrote a chapter and went back to edit parts of it before the 19th, will those edits be taken into account?

mega exhale

I did it! Ten chapters! 22,600-ish words.

only 2 days left. Hahaha is a bit late and anyway I don't think there's any point in me promoting for the contest.... Still, let me just share my story here haha, as I will be continuing it even loooOOOoooong after the contest is over lol.

It's not obviously listed within the story itself, so hmmm, I'm deliberating maybe it's better for me to outlay it directly? The premise/ setting is a bit of stepping back into societal and technological regression, even as the timeline is somewhat in a far, distant future. Basically a mix mesh of eras and time periods, very, very fictional. Lol.

let me know what you guys think. =D

Well, if it were me, I certainly would not read every novel multiple times. I would cut it off at the deadline say, "That is it. Every entry will be judged on how it exists right now at this moment." Seriously though, I have seen no mention of the staff having read anything yet. I seriously doubt that they will ever read all of qualifying entries in their entirety. My best guess would be that they read first chapter or so of the top twenty or thirty ranked by subscribers, cut that down to a much shorter short list, and read much as ten chapters from the short list. That would be a feasible way of judging within a short amount of time.

They must've read some already if they picked them for new&noteworthy though

They're supposed to read them all, no matter how many subs or involment, in order to pick their favorite for the winning prize. Considering the number, they might have started a while ago.
Some novels, such as mine, have already long past the 10 chapters requirements, so I guess if they stop at this mark they have already reviewed them...

When will we find out who won? Obviously the person with the most subs will win right away, but what about the other winner? Do you guys have hopeful's already? or will you be examining the work after the closing date?

There is two winner, according to them. You might read the rule again, but the short one is: they will pick a winner with the most subscriber counts with an exception that it's up to tapas standard of... acceptance? And the second winner is picked without counting the subscriber and will be picked by the tapas staff if its up to their standard. Maybe they'll read all of the subscription, or not, but I was wondering how will they decide the winner.

I'm still in this thing, but I am nnnoooooot going to finish xD. I'm okay with that, though. The story I've started has grown far beyond what I intended for it, and what feedback I've gotten has been great. I am pleased to have this extra motivation to write it until it reaches a solid conclusion; whether I leave it up long-term or eventually take it down sometime after it's done, it'll be much stronger than it might have been if I'd not submitted it for this.

Happy to have been a part of it. I hope all of you will find a silver lining ^_^.

Sorry, this might seem like a dumb question, but when you say "midnight" do you mean 11:59pm of Thursday, or 12:00am leading into Thursday?

17 episodes + a prologue. How did you guys and gals do? Lol
