@silverraven0 Exactly! I hit a wall after 20 something subs, and have slowly gotten one or two over time. I love the subs I've gotten, but besides 1-2 people who leave likes, there's no engagement at all. Haha, I bet you're writing's just fine!
@JackRasputen Yeah, I've posted in a few threads, and I think that's where most (or all) of my subs come from. Good luck!
@Alex9Wolf9 I subscribed to one entry, and the next day, they were featured. They got like 50 subs over night, and I got jealous of that. Keep in mind they deserve everything they've gotten, but I'm putting in a lot of work. It's disappointing to not see the same happen for my novel.
Since the moment I entered the 2nd week, I've been checking out other stories, some of which are great, and subbing/commenting/liking the ones that catch my interest. Some of them subbed back (to my surprise), and we exchange likes or comments. Maybe if I did enter the day of the contest, I might have more subbers.
I've only recently started being active on the forums, commenting, liking, and posting, so I'm not popular on here lol but I'm working towards it. I barely had any followers from my other works. My story is lgbtq, but since it's about multiple people, my cover doesn't feature the BL romance on the cover (I've noticed most of the popular novels are BLs) or any of the couples for that matter. Because of that, I thought maybe my cover wasn't good enough, but it's too late to change it now, not to mention I like it. The thought of cross promotion is a little scary to be honest. I feel like maybe the novelist might think it's a burden or something.
Believe me, I'm going to enter again! I'm going to keep trying until I win. Good luck to you, too!!!
@Zaboem I thought I was the only one keeping track of the entries lmao. I'm only paying attention to the sub count because of the competition. Besides that, all I want are engaging readers who I can talk to, but I haven't found any yet. I love the ones I have, but I'd love to talk to them more. It seems like nothing I do helps.
As for friends and family, I've told them all about it, but they're not readers in the slightest. The ones who do read have different tastes. I can count their support out. None of them have ever given my writing a try. A lot has been going on lately for me, so I took a break from school. My anxiety prohibits me from working, also.
I guess I need to put in more work reaching out to my fellow creators. I've posted in threads before, but maybe I just need to step up my game. Thanks for all the suggestions! I've never thought about asking my community before, but maybe I can find a way to do so, like at the local library.
It sucks you won't be included, but it's great your wife will be!
