OOh, I see. Thanks.
This thing requires more characters so I'm typing random shtuff right now. Beautiful Lies4
Well the issue with the ads is that I have an ad blocker, and while I willing to turn it off to support the wonderful creators on this site, 81 FRICKING ads after 2 minutes on a page is ridiculous. While that is only some pages, 8 or 9 ads per page sends off warning sirens in my head. At least secure the site so that I know that I wont be receiving viruses while supporting my favorite artists. Just wanted to put in my two cents in, and point out a potential threat.
. . . What? You must be referring to other website that have annoying pop-up ads, because Tapastic doesn't have those. They've taken great care to put their ads in places that are noticeable, but don't obstruct and distract you from the reading experience (between each comic episode you scroll down past, there are literally only three advertisements, and one of them is usually an ad for Tapastic itself, ex. Tapastic Premium). There most certainly AREN'T "81 FRICKING ads after 2 minutes". If there were, we'd be making a lot more money lol You won't be getting viruses either just by looking at advertisements that are hosted from elsewhere (now if you click on them and get redirected somewhere else you didn't want to be, well, that's a risk you're taking, and even then Tapastic seems to take great care in moderating what advertisements end up on their website).
If this is already happening, this sounds more like you have a malware problem on your own computer and isn't a Tapastic problem. We definitely don't have obstructive pop-up ads, and we DEFINITELY don't have almost hundreds of ads popping up in a short amount of time.
Hi there, attached above is our standard ad units, which is comprised of three slots. The middle and right most slot are based on your browser's cookies alongside our ad network while the left most slot is reserved for our personal use (expect some interesting stuff there). If you're experiencing anything outside of this ad unit such as pop-ups then that's a browser side error on your end. If you could screencap what you're experiencing, we'd be more than happy to take a look.
We have been experiencing some reports about autoplaying ad units, especially when readers are opening multiple tabs of comics at a time. This has been something we've been working on to reduce - I personally dislike autoplaying video ads because it's distracting.
Hey I'm sorry if there has already been a solution to this issue but I have a problem.
I disabled my ad blocker on Tapastic because I find that the ad revenue goes to something awesome here - and I firmly stand by that. But For SOME reason it still showed at least 2 of the ads as "blocked"...
I now even deactivated my adblocker altogether on chrome, and i STILL have this happening:
:C tapastic pls i KNOW ad revenue helps creators - that's why those two ads on the left and right are not blocked! I turned off the adblocker!
Any idea what I can do to fix this while still being able to run adblocker on other sites?
The ad on the left is always a Tapastic ad. It's not any indication that it's being "blocked", it's legitimately just how they set up the ad pages. So that's one problem out of the way lol (and yes, it is a legit ad).
I know a few people have had problems with the ad-blocker message still popping up for them even after turning ad-block off, although that was a bit of a different message, and I feel like maybe the middle pic is just another Tapastic ad? (as sometimes there are Tapastic ads in the center column as well). It's a (kinda far-fetch'd) possibility, but know that if it is breaking on you and trying to tell you to turn off your ad-blocker despite already turning it off, you're not the first person to have this problem.
We'll see if @michaelson can tell us the verdict here > <
Underneath every ad unit is an ad blocker message like the one you see above. By default it will show up and if an ad loads, then the ad will take priority over the ad blocker message. So sometimes the ad unit itself is transparent in parts and you'll be able to see snippets of the ad blocker message peaking through.
Sometimes the ad unit itself doesn't load - this can be caused by slow internet connections or by a server side error on the ad provider's side. If you see this routinely it may mean that the ad just hasn't had time to load
Hope that helps!
Something I wanted to tell you about your ads and why I turn on adblock: For the last week, Flash has taken up so much CPU to run the ads that it was ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SCROLL DOWN. In case you didn't get that, IT TOOK ONE MINUTE TO SCROLL DOWN ONE PAGE. ON AN AT LEAST MEDIUM-END PC. I can't support creators via the support program, so I'd like to support people at least that way, but this is ridiculous.
